Provide management oversight of maintenance planning, engineering activities, small projects, and landscape works. Ensure maintenance and engineering activities are aligned with operational, safety, sustainability, and service requirements. Strategic Responsibilities Establish and maintain a comprehensive asset management framework, including asset registers, condition assessments, lifecycle plans and replacement forecasting. Establish and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance strategies for mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), fire and life safety, and other critical building systems. Lead asset reliability, lifecycle planning, and engineering risk management. Leads the energy strategy on site ensuring site redundancy, reliability as well as cost efficiency and sustainability.Integrate safety requirements and energy management and building controls into engineering and maintenance strategies. Oversee technical requirements and priorities for projects, modifications, and infrastructure improvements. Monitor engineering performance and report key risks, asset performance, and service outcomes to the FM VP. Operational Responsibilities Develop and manage maintenance and engineering budgets, forecasting expenditure and identifying optimization opportunities. Lead the implementation and optimization of CMMS/CAFM systems and maintenance performance reporting. Ensure compliance with applicable building engineering and regulatory requirements. Oversee the operation and maintenance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, BMS, fire and life safety, and other critical engineering systems. Monitor maintenance plans, asset condition, critical faults, engineering risks, and corrective actions. Review and approve technical change requests and coordinate implementation with relevant functions. Oversee technical vendors and contractors, ensuring compliance with SLAs, engineering standards, and safety requirements. Establish contractor performance KPIs and monitor compliance with contractual service levels. Ideal Experience, Capabilities and Skills Industry Experience 15+ years of experience in facilities engineering, MEP operations, maintenance management, or asset management, including significant leadership experience. Strong technical understanding of MEP, HVAC, BMS, fire and life safety systems, utilities, and building infrastructure. Experience managing engineering operations across large-scale campus, institutional, cultural, or complex facilities. Experience in maintenance and engineering of specialized academic environments, including specialized equipment and supporting infrastructure, performance and exhibition facilities, and critical environments supporting arts education such as music, theater, and film. Academic Background Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related engineering discipline Master’s degree in engineering, Asset Management, Facilities Management, or related field is a plus. Additionally preferred certifications (CFM, FMP, IFMA credentials, PMP, Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP), Asset Management qualifications.Management capabilities Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary maintenance and engineering teams. Strong maintenance planning, asset performance, risk, and change management capabilities. Experience managing technical vendors, small projects, budgets, and service performance. Strong understanding of safety, energy management, and lifecycle requirements. Interpersonal skills Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities. Ability to coordinate effectively across technical and non-technical functions.
