Operating across multiple markets, we are committed to transforming waste into value while safeguarding the environment, supporting our communities, and driving operational excellence.OverviewWe are looking for a Maintenance Engineer to lead and coordinate preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance activities for heavy-duty trucks and associated equipment. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality maintenance practices that maximize fleet availability, reliability, and operational performance.Key ResponsibilitiesWorkshop Maintenance Supervision – Lead daily maintenance operations, allocate resources, and ensure timely completion of repairs.Preventive Planned Maintenance (PPM) – Develop and manage maintenance schedules to minimize breakdowns and extend asset life.Corrective & Breakdown Maintenance – Supervise fault diagnosis and repairs to restore vehicles to service quickly and effectively.Technical Responsibilities – Provide expertise across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic vehicle systems.Diagnostic & Technical Control – Ensure accurate root-cause analysis and utilization of OEM diagnostic tools and best practices.Quality Control – Verify that all repairs meet safety, quality, and operational standards before vehicle release.Workshop Planning & Productivity – Optimize workshop workflow, technician utilization, and maintenance turnaround times.Spare Parts & Material Control – Coordinate spare parts availability and support effective inventory management.Maintenance Cost Control – Monitor maintenance expenditure and identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency.Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) – Promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with company HSE standards.Workshop Documentation & Maintenance Records – Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure timely system updates.Team Supervision & Development – Coach, mentor, and develop workshop personnel to enhance technical capability and performance.Coordination with Operations – Work closely with Operations and Fleet teams to maximize vehicle availability and operational readiness.Warranty & External Repairs – Manage warranty claims and oversee repairs performed by external service providers.Education & Experience Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.Minimum 5 years of relevant maintenance experienceAt least 2–3 years in heavy-duty truck or commercial vehicle workshop operations.Practical experience supervising mechanics and technicians is strongly preferred.Experience with large mixed fleets and specialized vehicles is an advantage.Technical Competencies Heavy-duty diesel engines and commercial vehicle transmissions.Pneumatic braking, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems.Diagnostic tools and fault-code interpretation.Preventive and predictive maintenance and Root Cause Analysis.Workshop planning, scheduling, spare-parts management, and maintenance cost control.Fleet reliability management, OEM maintenance standards, and workshop HSE requirements.CMMS / ERP / fleet maintenance systems.Strong technical troubleshooting capability and supervisory skills.Good planning, organization, and prioritization under operational pressure.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to safety and technical detail.Cost-conscious decision-making and effective communication.Strong ownership and accountability for workshop performance.If you think you have what it takes to make the world a cleaner place, if you can see value where others see waste and if you aren’t afraid of a challenge, why not start your journey with us today.Averda welcomes candidates from all backgrounds, actively promotes diversity in the workforce, and is committed to creating an inclusive space where employees are valued for their skills, experiences, and unique perspectives.ONLY SHORTLISTED CANDIDATES WILL BE CONTACTED*
