Apply & track with Apply EdgeJOB SUMMARY:The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, reliability, and availability of transportation assets, including vehicles, equipment, and supporting infrastructure. The role ensures that all assets operate safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively, minimizing downtime and extending asset life.This position plays a critical role in maintaining operational continuity, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and optimizing maintenance strategies to support overall business performance.Core purposes of this role include ensuring maximum fleet availability and reliability, minimizing downtime and maintenance costs, maintaining safety and regulatory compliance, and optimizing asset lifecycle and performance. Required Educational & Experience Level: Diploma or university certificate in mechanical, electrical, automative engineering, or any other related field. Primary Accountabilities & Responsibilities4.1 Strategic Responsibilities Develop and implement the fleet maintenance strategy. Manage fleet lifecycle planning, including replacement and disposal. Establish preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Improve fleet reliability, availability, and overall performance. Drive the use of CMMS, telematics, and maintenance technologies. Identify maintenance risks and implement mitigation plans.4.2 Operational Responsibilities Manage preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities. Develop maintenance schedules and ensure timely PM execution. Monitor fleet availability, downtime, breakdowns, and recurring failures. Oversee workshop operations, tools, spare parts, tyres, and inventory. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions. Manage warranties, dealers, third-party vendors, and mobile maintenance teams. Ensure compliance with safety, inspection, and certification requirements. Maintain accurate maintenance records, KPIs, and reports. Support asset customization, manpower planning, and disposal recommendations.4.3 Financial Responsibilities Develop and manage the maintenance budget. Control repair, spare parts, labour, and external service costs. Monitor cost per vehicle, cost per km, and total cost of ownership. Manage vendor contracts to achieve cost efficiency and service quality. Improve asset utilization and reduce costs related to breakdowns.4.4 Leadership Responsibilities Lead and develop technicians, engineers, and supervisors. Ensure high standards of safety, technical quality, and productivity. Assess team capabilities and provide required training. Drive accountability, continuous improvement, and technology adoption. Collaborate with Operations, Procurement, Finance, and other stakeholders.
