Maintenance Supervisor

Job SummaryThe Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating the maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance activities of plant machinery, equipment, electrical systems, utilities, and facilities. The position ensures that all equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably to minimize downtime and support continuous production operations.Job ResponsibilitiesSupervise and lead the maintenance team, including technicians, electricians, mechanics, and other maintenance personnel.Plan, schedule, and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance activities.Ensure that production machinery, processing equipment, electrical systems, utilities, and facility equipment are properly maintained.Conduct regular inspections to identify equipment defects, potential breakdowns, and safety hazards.Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, refrigeration, and other equipment-related problems.Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and coordinate immediate repair to minimize production downtime.Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules and equipment maintenance records.Monitor the condition and performance of critical machinery and recommend repairs, replacement, or improvements when necessary.Coordinate with the Production, QA, Warehouse, and other departments regarding maintenance requirements and production schedules.Ensure that maintenance work is performed in accordance with company safety, GMP, food safety, and operational standards.Supervise contractors and service providers performing specialized maintenance, installation, or repair work.Monitor the proper use, storage, and inventory of tools, spare parts, lubricants, and maintenance supplies.Prepare maintenance reports, breakdown reports, work orders, and other required documentation.Assist in planning and implementing equipment installation, modification, fabrication, and improvement projects.Conduct root-cause analysis for recurring equipment breakdowns and implement corrective and preventive actions.Ensure that all maintenance personnel follow proper PPE, lockout/tagout, and workplace safety procedures.Train and coach maintenance personnel to improve technical skills, work quality, and safety awareness.Participate in emergency response, safety inspections, audits, and other compliance activities.Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by Management.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field; vocational/technical graduates with substantial relevant experience may also be considered.At least 3–5 years of relevant experience in plant or industrial maintenance, preferably in food manufacturing.Proven experience supervising or leading a maintenance team.Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, industrial machinery, and plant utilities.Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.Experience in troubleshooting and repair of production machinery and equipment.Knowledge of electrical controls, motors, pumps, compressors, conveyors, boilers, refrigeration/HVAC, and other industrial equipment is an advantage.Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and technical specifications.Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.Good leadership, communication, and team-management skills.Ability to work under pressure and respond to urgent equipment breakdowns.Knowledge of workplace safety, GMP, food safety, and maintenance-related compliance requirements.Proficient in maintenance documentation, reporting, and basic computer applications.Willing to work on shifting schedules, weekends, holidays, and during emergency maintenance situations when required.
