The company is dedicated to delivering high-quality whiskies that appeal to enthusiasts and connoisseurs, combining technical expertise with deep respect for tradition.Role Description The Malster will be responsible for overseeing the malting process, including selection, cleaning, steeping, germination, and kilning of barley to meet the quality standards of VKM Liquor LLP. This full-time, on-site role in Nahan involves monitoring moisture, temperature, and germination progress, maintaining detailed production records, and ensuring consistency in malt quality for blending and distillation. The Malster will collaborate closely with distillers and blenders to align malt specifications with desired flavor profiles, and will help implement and follow safety, hygiene, and quality control procedures. The role also includes routine inspection, basic maintenance of malting equipment, and participation in continuous improvement initiatives for process efficiency and product excellence.Qualifications Experience in malting or grain processing, including barley handling, steeping, germination, and kilning.Knowledge of whisky production processes and how malt characteristics influence flavor, aroma, and yield.Ability to monitor and manage process parameters such as moisture, temperature, and ventilation during malting.Understanding of quality control practices, record-keeping, and adherence to food safety and hygiene standards.Basic mechanical aptitude for operating and troubleshooting malting equipment and related machinery.Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to follow standard operating procedures consistently.Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with production, blending, and quality teams.Preferred: Prior experience in a brewery, distillery, or grain processing facility; vocational or technical training in food technology, fermentation, or a related field.
