Apply & track with Apply Edge🚨 We’re Hiring | Manager, Business DevelopmentJOB DESCRIPTIONManager - Business Development DepartmentBusiness Development Experience Required10+ Years LevelTeam Lead Location Belapur, Navi Mumbai Employment Type Full-Time Reports To CMDAbout the RoleWe are looking for an experienced and strategic Business Development professional to lead the company’s efforts to identify, develop and acquire new business opportunities, particularly in the Government and Public Sector.The role holder will be responsible for building a strong business pipeline, identifying relevant government departments and decision makers, understanding upcoming opportunities, developing the right approach strategy, and converting opportunities into projects.This role requires someone who understands who to approach, when to approach, how to approach, and how to convert relationships into business opportunities.Key Responsibilities1. Business Development Strategy
- Develop and execute strategies to generate new business from Government and Public Sector clients.
- Identify new markets, departments, projects and business opportunities aligned with the company’s capabilities.
- Develop short-term and long-term business development plans to support company growth.
- Build and maintain a strong and predictable business pipeline.
- Track market developments, government initiatives, upcoming projects and sector trends.2. Government Business Development
- Identify relevant government departments, authorities, agencies and public sector organisations for potential business opportunities.
- Map key stakeholders and decision makers relevant to each opportunity.
- Establish and maintain strong professional relationships with relevant stakeholders.
- Identify the right time, channel and approach for initiating business conversations.
- Understand government requirements, project priorities and upcoming opportunities.
- Develop strategies to position the company for relevant government projects and assignments.3. Lead Generation and Client Acquisition
- Generate new business leads through strategic networking, market research, referrals, industry relationships and other relevant channels.
- Qualify opportunities based on business potential, feasibility, timelines and strategic fit.
- Take ownership of opportunities from initial identification through to client acquisition.
- Prepare and deliver business proposals, presentations and commercial discussions in coordination with internal teams.
- Negotiate with prospective clients and support successful closure of projects.4. Strategic Relationship Management
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with government stakeholders, institutional clients, partners and other relevant decision makers.
- Develop a strong network that can contribute to future business opportunities.
- Maintain regular engagement with key stakeholders and ensure timely follow-ups.
- Represent the company in relevant meetings, industry forums, conferences and networking opportunities.5. Opportunity and Pipeline Management
- Maintain an updated pipeline of prospective projects and clients.
- Track the status, value, probability and expected timelines of business opportunities.
- Ensure timely follow-up on all qualified opportunities.
- Provide regular business development reports and forecasts to management.
- Analyse reasons for successful and unsuccessful opportunities and improve the approach accordingly.6. Team Leadership
- Lead and guide the Business Development team in identifying and pursuing new opportunities.
- Set clear targets and priorities for the team.
- Monitor team performance, pipeline generation and client acquisition.
- Coach team members on prospect identification, stakeholder mapping, client engagement and conversion.
- Develop a structured and disciplined approach to business development within the team.Key Skills and Competencies

- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Public Administration or a related field.
- MBA or equivalent qualification will be an added advantage.Experience
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in Business Development, Government Business Development, Institutional Sales, Consulting or Public Sector Engagement.
- Proven experience in acquiring new clients and generating new business.
- Experience in dealing with Government departments, Public Sector Undertakings, government bodies or institutional clients will be strongly preferred.
- Experience in leading or managing a Business Development team is preferred.
