Manager Business Intelligence

Position OverviewA leading international law firm is seeking a Manager of Business Intelligence to oversee its BI and reporting function. This is a hands-on leadership role managing a small BI team while continuing to contribute directly to reporting, analytics, and data initiatives.The firm is modernizing its reporting environment, with a focus on Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and a more streamlined reporting landscape. The Manager will help lead that evolution, assess and simplify a large portfolio of existing reports, strengthen the underlying reporting framework, and ensure business users continue to receive accurate, timely, and accessible information. The role partners closely with Finance, Technology, and business stakeholders to turn reporting needs into effective BI solutions. Much of the firm's financial reporting is supported by Elite 3E, making experience with 3E, legal technology, or professional-services reporting particularly valuable.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and mentor a small BI team while remaining actively involved in hands-on technical delivery.Manage reporting priorities, incoming requests, project workload, and stakeholder expectations.Drive the evolution from legacy SSRS reporting to Power BI, with Microsoft Fabric incorporated as the environment matures.Assess the existing report portfolio and identify opportunities to consolidate, redesign, modernize, or retire reporting where appropriate.Design and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, datasets, and semantic models.Develop and optimize SQL/T-SQL queries supporting financial and operational reporting.Strengthen reporting architecture and data models to improve performance, consistency, scalability, and ease of maintenance.Partner with Finance and other business groups to translate reporting needs into practical, well-designed BI solutions.Advance self-service analytics and explore emerging capabilities including Microsoft Copilot and AI-enabled reporting.Maintain strong standards for reporting accuracy, availability, security, and usability as the environment evolves.QualificationsSignificant professional experience in business intelligence, reporting, or analytics.Experience leading or mentoring BI professionals while continuing to work hands-on.Strong Power BI skills, including DAX, Power Query, data modeling, and dashboard/report development.Strong SQL Server/T-SQL experience.Experience with SSRS and the modernization of established reporting environments.Ability to balance competing priorities and work effectively across technical and business teams.Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services, modern cloud BI platforms, or AI-driven analytics initiatives is a plus.Law firm or professional-services experience is strongly preferred.Experience with Elite 3E or a comparable financial/practice-management platform is highly desirable.
