Manager ControllershipSukari is located approximately 750km from Cairo and 25km from Marsa Alam on the Red Sea. First gold was poured in June 2009 and commercial production began in April 2010, making Sukari the first modern gold mine in Egypt, a country which in ancient times was a prolific producer of the precious metal. Sukari conducts both open-pit and underground mining operations, each employing specialised mining methods tailored to the orebody characteristics and operational requirements.The RoleGlobe 24-7 is supporting AngloGold Ashanti’s Sukari operation in the search for a Manager Controllership. The role is accountable for ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with Group accounting standards, and continuous process improvement. It plays a central role in strengthening controllership governance, maintaining the controllership function, resolving complex accounting matters, and preparing financial results for audit readiness while engaging with external auditors.The position also supports remediation of control deficiencies, including internal control over financial reporting matters, and drives cross-functional collaboration in support of the One Finance vision. A key focus will be the integration of processes, systems, and reporting models, while standardising practices across Group entities in line with AngloGold Ashanti standards.
Location: Alexandria, EgyptContract Type: PermanentThe Key ResponsibilitiesIntegration & Alignment: Integrate Centamin into the AngloGold Ashanti way of working by aligning financial processes and controls to Group standards.Financial Controllership: Lead financial controllership, systems integration, and SOX compliance across Centamin operating assets, holding companies, and exploration units.General Ledger & Reporting: Review GL entries, journals, and SAP movements, ensuring accurate accounting, period-end classification, and robust monthly reporting.Technical Accounting & Compliance: Identify and account for complex non-routine transactions, align reported numbers with US GAAP, and review compliance with Group accounting directives.Systems & Process Improvement: Lead HFM and SAP-related reporting activities, support systems implementation, and standardise and improve financial models and accounting processes.Audit & Governance: Coordinate internal and external audits, support audit committee reporting, remediate ICFR deficiencies, and foster a strong SOX controls culture.Leadership & Collaboration: Manage the business unit controllership function, work closely with finance and technical stakeholders, and coach the team to build technical capability.The RequirementsBachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalentChartered Accountant, or equivalent qualificationSound financial reporting knowledge with IFRS experience; US GAAP would be advantageousBroad mining exposureStrong Excel and TM1 skills with systems knowledge including HFM and SAPExperience working with cross-functional and geographically dispersed teamsStrong governance and compliance capabilityExcellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detailProject management and execution capability with an understanding of the bigger picture5 years’ relevant experience in the mining industry and/or associated business fields, including corporate reporting or financial accounting functions
