Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, this role will establish a market intelligence center of excellence — turning what is today tribal knowledge into structured, dynamic insights that inform business decisions, innovation, the long range plan, and M&A activity. The role starts with H&V’s core markets and expands into adjacencies and growth opportunities. The person in this role will engage directly with customers, industry experts, executives, and the Board of Directors.Essential Functions And ResponsibilitiesBuild and maintain H&V’s Market Intelligence Center of Excellence — a durable, searchable repository of market, customer, competitor, and macroeconomic insightDevelop structured intelligence on H&V’s core markets (sizing, growth, segmentation, trends, competitive landscape) and expand coverage into adjacent markets and white-space opportunitiesServe as a thought partner to the CSO and business leaders on the Long Range Plan, providing market context, growth opportunities, and risksSupport M&A activity through target screening, market and competitive analysis, valuation, and diligence inputsEngage directly with customers, industry experts, and trade associations to validate hypotheses and sharpen H&V’s point of viewPrepare and deliver executive- and board-level materials that translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendationsLeverage AI tools to accelerate research, synthesis, and the quality of insightsSpecific Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, Certifications, EtcStrong analytical and structured problem-solving skillsFinancial analysis: cash flow, NPV, valuation, and business case developmentMarket analysis: sizing, segmentation, competitor analysis, Porter’s Five Forces, macroeconomic correlationProficiency with AI tools for research, synthesis, and analysisStrong data visualization and executive communication (Excel, PowerPoint; Tableau or Power BI a plus)Familiarity with secondary research sources (e.g., S&P Capital IQ, PitchBook, IBISWorld) a plusDiscretion in handling confidential strategic and M&A informationUp to 25% travelCore Competency RequirementsThe person who assumes this role must possess the following personal attributes necessary for success within H&V:Curiosity — a genuine drive to understand markets, customers, and competitors deeplyCritical thinking — asks the right questions, challenges assumptions, separates signal from noiseChallenge the status quo — brings fresh, outside-in perspectives and pushes back constructivelyExecutive presence — credible and confident with customers, executives, and Board membersBusiness acumen — connects market dynamics to business outcomesComfort with ambiguity — structures unstructured problems and prioritizes what matters mostEducation/ExperienceMBA required; recent graduates through ~4 years of post-MBA experience encouraged to applyTechnical undergraduate degree (engineering, sciences) a plusBackground in management consulting, corporate strategy, corporate development, or equity research preferredIndustrial / B2B market exposure a plus; filtration, materials, or advanced manufacturing especially valuablePhysical Requirements And EnvironmentsOffice-based at H&V’s East Walpole, MA headquarters; hybrid schedule availableTravel up to 25% for customer visits, industry events, and target/site evaluationsOccasional exposure to manufacturing environments during plant or customer site visitsHollingsworth & Vose is an equal opportunity employer.
