Based on Galatek's corporate positioning and global footprint.About the roleAre you a hands-on software leader driven by high-precision engineering, real-time control, and cutting-edge automation?As our Software Engineering Manager / Tech Lead, you will architect the real-time software engine driving our next-generation semiconductor equipment. You’ll lead an elite team of software engineers, collaborating closely with mechanical, motion, vision, and systems teams to bring complex hardware to life. If you thrive at the intersection of high-speed mechatronics, clean code architecture, and team leadership, this role offers direct impact on industry-defining technology.Key ResponsibilitiesLead & Scale the Team: Manage, mentor, and grow a team of high-performing software engineers. Drive hiring, career development, and a culture of technical excellence.Architect Complex Systems: Define modular, scalable, and maintainable software architecture for real-time motion control, machine vision, and tool automation subsystems.Drive End-to-End Execution: Lead software design across the full NPI lifecycle - from initial concept and prototyping through to system bring-up, debugging, and manufacturing readiness.Cross-Functional Synergy: Partner with system, motion, electrical, and mechanical engineers to integrate multi-axis motion control, vision systems, and sensor networks in safety-critical environments.Champion Engineering Standards: Establish best practices for continuous integration (CI/CD), automated testing, code reviews, and Agile execution (Scrum/Jira/Confluence).What You BringCore Experience & LeadershipEducation: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.Experience: 10+ years in software development, including 3+ years leading technical teams within semiconductor equipment, precision mechatronics, or high-tech industrial automation.Agile Leadership: Track record of driving Agile workflows (sprint planning, backlog grooming, release management) and leading cross-functional alignment.Technical Stack & Domain ExpertiseLanguages & OS: Advanced proficiency in C++, C#, or Python, alongside hands-on experience with RTOS (e.g., QNX, RT-Linux) and fieldbus protocols (EtherCAT, CANopen).Motion & Vision Integration: Solid foundation in real-time motion control platforms (e.g., Beckhoff TwinCAT, ACS, Galil, NI) and vision processing tools (e.g., OpenCV, Halcon, Cognex, Matrox).System Constraints: Proven experience managing tight latency, microsecond synchronization, multi-axis servo motion, and safety-critical execution.Bonus Points / Nice-to-HaveDirect experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) and transitioning complex tools to volume manufacturing.Advanced degree (Ph.D. or specialized Master's) in mechatronics or control engineering.Work Environment & MobilityTravel: Willingness to travel (~25%) to support customer sites, system bring-up, and key product transition phases.Ready to Build What’s Next?We’re not just designing machines - we’re building the future of autonomous and intelligent manufacturing.
