For more information visit: www.space42.ai, follow us on X and Instagram @Space42ai.Role PurposeAs the Manager – Trade Compliance at Space42, you will be responsible for leading and managing the organization's trade compliance program, ensuring adherence to all relevant export control and sanctions regulations. Your role is critical in mitigating compliance risks associated with international trade, export controls, and economic sanctions. Reporting to the Vice President – Compliance, Risk and Governance, you will collaborate with multiple departments to develop, implement and maintain policies and frameworks, provide strategic guidance, and ensure compliance across all key transactions.Responsibilities: - Develop, implement, and manage the organization's trade compliance program, ensuring full compliance with national and international export control and economic sanctions regulations.- Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and controls to mitigate compliance risks and ensure regulatory adherence.- Provide expert analysis and interpretation of international trade laws and regulations, guiding internal stakeholders on compliance requirements.- Assess and determine the need for export licenses, overseeing the preparation, submission, and management of export license applications and sanctions compliance processes.- Conduct periodic risk assessments to identify potential compliance risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.- Lead and support internal audits and investigations related to trade compliance, recommending corrective actions to address any non-compliance issues.- Stay abreast of changes in export control and economic sanctions regulations, providing proactive advice to management and relevant teams on necessary adjustments to policies and procedures.- Act as the primary point of contact for trade compliance matters, collaborating with legal, operations, business, and technical teams to ensure regulatory adherence.- Design and deliver training programs to educate employees on trade compliance policies, regulations, and best practices.- Represent the organization in dealings with regulatory bodies, industry associations, and external stakeholders concerning export control and sanctions regulations.- Ensure proper documentation, recordkeeping, and reporting of all applicable transactions to meet regulatory and company policy requirements.- Lead investigations into compliance breaches or potential violations, developing and overseeing the implementation of corrective action plans.- Manage relationships with external advisors, consultants, and regulatory authorities to strengthen the organization’s compliance framework.Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in law, International Trade, Business Administration, or a related field.- Certifications in export compliance or equivalent.- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in export control and sanctions compliance within the high-tech, telecommunications, aerospace, or defense industry.- In-depth knowledge of U.S. export control laws (ITAR, EAR) and compliance frameworks.- Strong familiarity with local and international export control and sanctions laws, including regulations on dual-use goods and technologies.- Experience working with compliance management software and risk assessment tools.- Proven ability to develop and implement compliance training programs.- High ethical standards with a commitment to fostering a culture of integrity and accountability.- Experience with government contracts, procurement processes, and regulatory engagement is an advantage.- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex regulatory concepts clearly.- Familiarity with business intelligence software.- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong organizational capabilities and attention to detail.- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving regulatory environment, managing multiple priorities effectively.
