Managing Director – SpainLocation: BarcelonaPosition overviewAn established international shipping and logistics organisation is seeking a Managing Director to lead its operations in Spain from its Barcelona office.Reporting to the regional leadership team, the Managing Director will have full P&L responsibility and lead the local team. The successful candidate will drive profitable growth, operational excellence and the strategic development of the business across the Spanish market.Key responsibilitiesDefine and execute the company’s business strategy in Spain.Drive profitable growth across shipping and logistics services.Take full ownership of the P&L, including budgeting, forecasting and financial performance.Oversee daily operations, ensuring excellent service, operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, suppliers and strategic partners.Lead business-development initiatives to strengthen and expand the company’s presence in Spain.Identify new commercial opportunities within Barcelona and other key Spanish logistics hubs.Lead, coach and develop a high-performing local team.Collaborate closely with regional and global stakeholders to achieve business objectives and maintain alignment with the wider corporate strategy.Experience and qualificationsAt least 10 years of leadership experience in international shipping or logistics.A proven record of managing a P&L and delivering profitable growth.Strong commercial judgement and operational leadership capabilities.Experience leading and developing multicultural teams.Excellent communication, stakeholder-management and strategic-planning skills.Strong knowledge of the Spanish shipping, logistics and transportation market is highly desirable.Professional fluency in Spanish and English is essential;An established network within the Spanish shipping and logistics industry would be beneficial.
