Marine Engineer

Role DescriptionA Marine Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting of marine engines, machinery, and onboard technical systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient vessel operations.Key ResponsibilitiesOperate and maintain marine engines, machinery, and technical systems.Conduct inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs of equipment.Monitor engine performance, fuel consumption, and system conditions.Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and technical issues.Maintain propulsion, auxiliary, cooling, lubrication, and fuel systems.Plan and perform preventive and corrective maintenance.Coordinate with vessel crew, contractors, suppliers, and technical teams.Maintain maintenance records, equipment logs, and technical documentation.Assist with equipment installation, upgrades, and commissioning.Ensure machinery and systems comply with safety and operational standards.Monitor spare parts, tools, equipment, and maintenance requirements.Identify potential equipment failures and recommend preventive solutions.Support inspections, audits, surveys, and regulatory requirements.Prepare technical reports and maintenance updates.Promote safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible vessel operations.QualificationsBachelor’s degree or Diploma in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.Relevant experience in marine engineering, vessel operations, or ship maintenance.Strong knowledge of marine engines, propulsion systems, and auxiliary machinery.Experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and repairs.Knowledge of marine safety standards and engineering practices.Familiarity with classification society and maritime regulations is advantageous.Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Good understanding of maintenance planning and technical documentation.Ability to work effectively with vessel crews and technical teams.Strong attention to safety, quality, and detail.Ability to work under pressure and manage operational priorities.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems.Professional, reliable, organized, and proactive approach.
