Marine Engineer

Role DescriptionA Marine Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting of marine engines, machinery, and onboard technical systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient vessel operations.Key ResponsibilitiesOperate and maintain marine engines, machinery, and technical systems.Conduct inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs.Monitor engine performance, fuel consumption, and system conditions.Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and technical issues.Maintain propulsion, auxiliary, cooling, lubrication, and fuel systems.Perform preventive and corrective maintenance.Coordinate with vessel crew, contractors, suppliers, and technical teams.Maintain maintenance records, equipment logs, and technical documentation.Support equipment installations, upgrades, and commissioning.Ensure compliance with marine safety and operational standards.Manage spare parts, tools, and technical equipment.Identify equipment failures and implement preventive solutions.Support inspections, audits, surveys, and regulatory requirements.Prepare technical reports and maintenance updates.Promote safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible vessel operations.QualificationsDiploma or Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.Relevant experience in marine engineering, vessel operations, or ship maintenance.Strong knowledge of marine engines, propulsion, and auxiliary systems.Experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and repairs.Understanding of marine safety and engineering practices.Knowledge of classification society and maritime regulations is advantageous.Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Good maintenance planning and documentation skills.Strong communication and teamwork abilities.High attention to safety, quality, and technical detail.Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage operational priorities.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems.Professional, reliable, organized, and proactive approach.
