Apply & track with Apply EdgeThe Marine Projects & Newbuilding Engineer is a hands-on engineering role within the Technical Department, responsible for leading and executing technical projects across the fleet, with a strong focus on newbuilding activities, vessel retrofits, and energy efficiency improvements.The role requires solid experience in: New Building Projects, including site supervision and project monitoring, as well as close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered to high technical, safety, and performance standards.This is an on-site position from our office in Athens.ResponsibilitiesTechnical Projects & RetrofitsLead and manage technical and engineering projects across the fleet, including feasibility studies, design reviews, detailed engineering, and plan approval processesPrepare technical specifications, cost estimations, and support procurement activitiesOversee implementation of retrofit projects, including Energy Saving Devices (ESD) and other efficiency improvement systemsSupervise project execution onboard and/or at shipyards, including site supervision when requiredConduct ship condition surveys and support damage investigationsCoordinate with Class and Flag authorities for approvals and compliance with regulatory requirementsNewbuilding ProjectsParticipate in newbuilding projects, including specification development, design review, plans approval, and construction processesMonitor construction progress at shipyards (on-site or remotely), ensuring compliance with company requirements and quality standards; monitor and supervise local site teamsAttend and evaluate sea trials, including performance and system validationFollow up on guarantee claims with shipyards until vessel delivery and support post-delivery activities in coordination with Technical SuperintendentsPerformance & AnalysisSupport monitoring of vessel performance, including fuel consumption and voyage efficiencyContribute to performance analysis and optimization initiatives when relevantCommercial & Cross-Functional SupportProvide technical input for Operations departments.Collaborate with internal stakeholders across technical, operations, and commercial departmentsCollect and present technical data as required for business needsQualificationsProven experience in the maritime industry in a technical or engineering roleBackground as a Marine Engineer or Naval ArchitectHands-on experience with newbuilding projects, shipyard supervision, retrofit projects, or vessel upgradesExperience with Energy Saving Devices (ESD) implementation or similar technical efficiency projectsStrong understanding of maritime regulations, Class, and Flag requirementsHigh level of English, written and spokenStrong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skillsExperience in vessel performance monitoring and voyage optimization (Advantage)Knowledge of environmental regulations and decarbonization frameworks (Advantage)Experience working with international shipyards and global stakeholders (Advantage)
