Apply & track with Apply EdgeMarket ManagerPosition OverviewThe Market Manager is responsible for the overall performance, growth, and operational effectiveness of multiple HireQuest Direct locations within an assigned market. This position provides hands-on leadership to branch teams while ensuring each location meets its sales, service, financial, safety, and compliance objectives.The Market Manager regularly visits assigned branches and customer locations, supports business development efforts, coaches branch employees, monitors financial performance, and addresses operational or customer concerns. Success in this position requires strong leadership, sales ability, financial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Essential ResponsibilitiesBranch Operations and LeadershipOversee the daily operations and overall performance of assigned HireQuest Direct locations.Maintain regular contact with each branch through in-person visits, telephone calls, meetings, and performance reviews.Provide branch teams with direction, coaching, training, and operational support.Ensure branches maintain appropriate staffing levels and operate efficiently within established cost expectations.Assist with recruiting, selecting, onboarding, developing, and retaining branch employees.Establish performance expectations and provide ongoing feedback to branch management and staff.Identify operational challenges and develop practical solutions to improve branch efficiency, productivity, and service.Ensure timely and accurate completion of required operational and administrative reports.Communicate significant concerns, business risks, and growth opportunities to corporate leadership.Sales and Customer RelationshipsDrive revenue growth and ensure assigned locations meet established sales and profitability goals.Monitor branch sales activity, customer development efforts, and follow-up.Personally participate in sales and business-development activities within the assigned market.Coach branch employees on prospecting, customer development, account management, and retention.Maintain relationships with key customers through regular site visits, telephone calls, and email communication.Work with customers to understand current and future staffing needs and identify opportunities to expand services.Address customer concerns promptly and help branch teams resolve service issues.Ensure sales activities and results are documented consistently and accurately.Financial Performance and CollectionsMonitor branch revenue, expenses, profitability, staffing costs, overtime, unbillable hours, and other operating expenses.Review market and branch financial results and develop action plans when performance is below expectations.Monitor accounts receivable aging and support branch teams with collection efforts.Assist in resolving invoice disputes and other issues that may delay customer payments.Exercise sound judgment regarding branch expenses and financial decisions.Compliance, Safety, and Risk ManagementEnsure assigned locations follow company policies, procedures, and operating standards.Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local employment requirements.Ensure temporary employees and new customers are properly entered, documented, and set up within company systems.Confirm required postings, reporting, and employment records are completed and maintained appropriately.Promote safe working practices among branch employees and temporary employees.Oversee the issuance and tracking of required safety equipment.Support accident reporting, investigation, documentation, and prevention efforts.Partner with corporate departments to address compliance, safety, employee-relations, and operational concerns.Administrative OversightEnsure accurate and timely system entry, reporting, billing, payroll-related information, and other branch administrative functions.Review internal and external reports for completeness and accuracy.Ensure required information and documentation are submitted to the appropriate corporate departments on time.Perform additional duties consistent with the operational and sales needs of the assigned market.Required QualificationsFive or more years of management, sales, operations, or staffing industry experience.Experience overseeing multiple locations, teams, or business units preferred.Demonstrated success in sales, customer development, account management, or business growth.Strong leadership, coaching, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.Ability to evaluate financial and operational performance and take appropriate corrective action.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple branches, priorities, and deadlines.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Sound judgment and the ability to make timely decisions in a fast-paced environment.Proficiency with standard business technology, reporting systems, and Microsoft Office applications.Ability and willingness to travel regularly among assigned branches and customer locations.Position ExpectationsThis is a hands-on leadership position with broad responsibility for the efficient operation and continued growth of the assigned market. The Market Manager must be comfortable working independently, responding quickly to operational needs, and communicating effectively with branch employees, temporary employees, customers, and corporate leadership.
