At OTM, this person builds both the strategy and the system that carries it out.The Marketing Strategist turns a client’s business goals into a marketing plan, designs the processes, tools, and AI workflows needed to execute it, and is accountable for the results.This role requires strong B2B marketing experience, an AI-first approach, and systems thinking.The strategist understands how positioning, channels, content, data, and sales connect. AI supports research, analysis, and first drafts. The strategist applies judgment, makes decisions, and owns the outcome.SIGNATURE MOVESStrategy development: Build marketing strategies around client goals, ideal customer profiles (ICPs), competitive position, and data.System design: Create repeatable processes, tools, and workflows that carry out the strategy.AI-first execution: Use AI for research, analysis, and first drafts, and improve those workflows over time.Channel planning: Choose the right mix of channels and tactics, with budget and effort tied to expected return.Performance management: Set KPIs, track results, and adjust the plan based on the data.Client leadership: Present strategy clearly, gain client agreement, and guide decisions.WHO SUCCEEDS IN THIS ROLEThe right person:Has 7+ years of B2B marketing strategy experience and results they can point to.Thinks in systems and understands how each part of a marketing plan affects the others.Uses AI daily and looks for ways to use it more effectively.Builds processes and templates instead of solving the same problem twice.Makes decisions from data and can explain the reasoning behind them.Connects marketing work to pipeline and revenue, not just activity.Explains complex strategy in plain language to clients and teammates.Pushes back on clients when needed, with evidence.Works independently and manages multiple client accounts at once.Changes the plan when results show it is not working.Stays current with marketing tools, channels, and AI capabilities.RESPONSIBILITIES & HOW SUCCESS IS MEASUREDSTRATEGY & PLANNING (30%)Build marketing strategies from client goals, ICPs, competitive research, and performance data. Success looks like: Every active client has a documented strategy approved by the client.Define positioning and messaging by audience and buying stage. Success looks like: Messaging is documented and used across client channels and assets.Build annual and quarterly marketing plans with priorities, timelines, budgets, and owners. Success looks like: Plans are delivered on schedule, and every plan item has an owner and a date.Recommend the channel and tactic mix with budget and effort tied to expected return. Success looks like: Recommendations include a clear rationale and expected results. Budget is reviewed against performance.SYSTEMS & AI-ENABLED EXECUTION (25%)Design the processes and workflows used to carry out each strategy. Success looks like: Every plan has a documented execution workflow the production team can follow.Use AI for research, competitive analysis, audience insights, and first drafts. Success looks like: AI is the starting point for research and drafting, and the time needed to deliver a strategy decreases.Build reusable templates, frameworks, and AI prompts for strategy work. Success looks like: Templates are used across clients, and new strategies take less time to build.Write clear briefs for production and GTM teams. Success looks like: Briefs are complete at handoff, and rework caused by unclear direction declines.PERFORMANCE & RESULTS (20%)Set KPIs and targets for each client. Success looks like: Every client has agreed-upon KPIs with baselines and targets.Track performance and review results with clients on a set schedule. Success looks like: Results are reviewed at least monthly, and reports include clear recommendations.Adjust plans based on performance data. Success looks like: Underperforming tactics are changed or stopped within one reporting cycle.Test messaging, channels, and offers. Success looks like: Tests have documented results, and successful approaches are expanded.CLIENT LEADERSHIP & GROWTH (15%)Present strategy and results to client leadership. Success looks like: Clients approve recommendations, and decisions are made in meetings without unnecessary delays.Lead strategy workshops on ICPs, positioning, and planning. Success looks like: Workshops end with documented decisions and next steps.Identify expansion opportunities and bring them to CSMs and clients.
