Team members join a professional marine organization focused on safe, efficient, and reliable service for complex towing and marine projects.Role Description The MASTER & MATE OF TOWING - INLAND - WESTERN RIVERS - NEAR COASTAL role is a full-time, remote position that requires working on assigned vessels within inland waterways, Western Rivers, and near coastal routes. The role involves safely operating and navigating tugboats and towing vessels, planning and executing voyages, and ensuring compliance with all applicable maritime regulations and company policies. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising deck and engine crews, overseeing towing operations, managing vessel logs, and coordinating with dispatch and shore-based management to meet project schedules. The role also includes monitoring weather and river conditions, conducting safety drills and inspections, and maintaining a strong safety culture onboard. The master or mate will communicate regularly with clients and internal shoreside team members to support efficient marine transportation services.QualificationsPossess strong vessel operation and navigation skills, including experience on inland waterways, Western Rivers, and near coastal routes.Demonstrate expertise in towing operations, including tug and barge handling, anchor handling, and marine salvage or relocation towing.Maintain solid knowledge of maritime safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental protection practices relevant to U.S. inland and coastal waters.Exhibit leadership and crew management abilities, including supervising deck crews, coordinating tasks, and promoting a safe working environment.Show effective communication and coordination skills for working with dispatch, shore-based management, clients, and project stakeholders.Hold appropriate U.S. Coast Guard credentials for Master and/or Mate of Towing Vessels, with valid licenses, endorsements, and medical certificates.Have experience with marine project management or vessel management activities, including recordkeeping, voyage planning, and reporting.Display sound judgment, situational awareness, and problem-solving skills in dynamic river and coastal operating conditions.Ability to work full time in a rotational or assignment-based schedule and travel to vessels and project
