With a majority of academic staff holding PhDs, XMUM emphasizes first-class teaching, research excellence, and a culturally diverse environment, providing an attractive setting for postgraduate research in emerging technologies.Role Description This is an on-site Master’s Student Researcher role in Vanadium Redox Flow Battery Technology based at Xiamen University Malaysia in Sepang. The researcher will conduct laboratory experiments on vanadium redox flow batteries, including electrolyte preparation, cell assembly, performance testing, and data collection under the supervision of academic staff. Daily tasks include designing and optimizing experimental protocols, analyzing electrochemical data, reviewing scientific literature, and contributing to research publications and conference presentations. The role also involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, maintaining safety and good laboratory practices, and participating in regular research meetings and progress reviews. The researcher is expected to work independently on assigned projects while actively engaging in the broader research activities of the department.Qualifications Strong foundation in electrochemistry, energy storage systems, or related fields such as materials science, chemical engineering, or physics.Experience with laboratory work, including handling chemicals, operating electrochemical test equipment, and following safety protocols.Ability to design experiments, analyze quantitative data, and interpret results using appropriate scientific and statistical methods.Proficient in scientific writing, literature review, and preparing technical reports, theses, or manuscripts for publication.Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a diverse, interdisciplinary research environment.Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or related field) and eligibility for admission to a Master’s program at XMUM.Familiarity with battery technologies, renewable energy systems, or flow battery research is an advantage.Motivation to pursue high-quality research, strong problem-solving skills, and readiness to work on-site in Sepang.
