Master Tailor

The Tailored Man is a fully custom menswear house in McLean, Virginia, established in 1969. We are looking for a master tailor to run our workroom.The workClient fittings on custom suits, jackets, trousers and shirts. Marking the garment in the fitting room and then executing the alterations that come out of it. We also take in outside alterations, so the bench stays busy year round.What we are looking forReal hands and real judgment. Accuracy matters here, but so does pace. You set the date a garment will be ready, and we need you to hold to it.You will be in front of clients. They are executives, attorneys and diplomats, and they need to leave a fitting confident about what they are getting and when. You do not need perfect English, but you do need to talk with them directly and well. This half of the job matters as much to us as the bench.Almost everything runs by appointment, so this is an orderly room, not a walk-in counter.What we offer$65,000 to $80,000 per year depending on experience. The top of that range is for a tailor who can hold the fitting room on their own.
