Masters Candidate

Role Description The Masters Candidate at Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Físicas (CBPF) will engage in full-time research activities, including designing and conducting scientific experiments, simulations, or theoretical studies in physics under the guidance of a faculty advisor. The role involves collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data, performing literature reviews, and contributing to research reports, theses, and publications. The candidate will participate in seminars, group meetings, and academic discussions, as well as collaborate with other researchers and students on ongoing projects. Responsibilities also include preparing presentations for internal and external conferences, maintaining accurate research documentation, and adhering to institutional and scientific ethics standards. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.QualificationsStrong foundation in physics or a closely related field, with prior coursework or research experience at the undergraduate level.Ability to conduct independent and collaborative research, including problem formulation, methodology selection, and critical analysis of results.Competence in scientific writing and communication, including preparing reports, theses, and presentations in clear, structured language.Familiarity with data analysis tools, programming languages, or computational methods commonly used in physics research (e.g., Python, MATLAB, or similar).Effective time management and organizational skills to handle coursework, research tasks, and deadlines in a full-time academic environment.Willingness to work on-site in Rio de Janeiro and actively participate in seminars, group meetings, and collaborative projects.Bachelor’s degree in Physics or a related discipline, or equivalent academic background, meeting CBPF’s admission requirements for Master’s programs.
