Materials Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Material Team Leader to lead material-related activities for a construction project in Riyadh.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in architectural and finishing materials, with proven experience in hotel and hospitality projects.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and coordinate all material-related activities at the project site, with particular focus on architectural and finishing materials. Review project drawings, specifications, BOQs, material schedules, and technical requirements to identify material requirements and compliance criteria. Prepare, review, and manage Material Submittals and ensure timely submission and approval by the consultant/client. Review materials against project specifications, approved drawings, design intent, and applicable standards before submission and procurement. Coordinate with consultants, designers, procurement, technical office, QA/QC, and construction teams regarding material selection, approvals, and technical requirements. Manage material samples, mock-ups, finishes, and approval processes, particularly for architectural and interior finishing works. Identify material related technical issues, deviations, and potential risks and coordinate appropriate technical solutions. Review proposed alternative materials and support technical evaluation and value engineering while maintaining project specifications, quality, and design intent. Provide technical support to Procurement in evaluating suppliers, manufacturers, and material proposals. Coordinate approved materials with shop drawings and site requirements to ensure consistency prior to execution. Lead and guide Material Engineers and coordinate workload and priorities according to the project schedule. Candidate RequirementsBachelor's degree in architecture / architectural engineering is preferred; Civil Engineering may be considered for candidates with strong relevant experience. Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in material engineering within the construction industry. Previous experience in hotel / hospitality finishing projects is mandatory. Strong knowledge of finishing materials such as stone, marble, tiles, flooring, ceilings, partitions, doors, joinery, façade-related finishes, paints and coatings, sanitary accessories, and other architectural finishes. Strong coordination, follow-up, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Good command of English
