Mechanical Design Engineer

CMC are supporting one of our partners and seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer for a 6-month contract supporting the design and development of high-speed motor-generator and rotating machinery systems.

Location: LA (CA) - Hybrid schuduleDuration: 6-month contract (extension potential)Rate: Dependent on each consultantCore Focus:

• Mechanical design of high-speed rotating equipment and turbomachinery systems
• 3D CAD design and detailed engineering (SolidWorks)
• Structural, thermal, and dynamic analysis using FEA
• Rotor dynamics support including bearings, seals, and couplings
• Design from concept through build, test, and validation support
• Manufacturing and assembly support, including troubleshooting hardware issues
• Engineering documentation, drawings, and design deliverablesRequired Experience:
• BS Mechanical Engineering
• High-speed rotating equipment, turbomachinery, compressors, turbines, or motor-generators
• Rotor dynamics and mechanical design of rotating systems
• SolidWorks proficiency
• FEA experience (structural required)
• Strong GD&T knowledge and hands-on engineering approachPreferred:
• API 617 exposure
• ASME VIII pressure vessel experience
• MIL-STD-810 familiarity
