They are now looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their established engineering team and play a key role in keeping a busy, high-volume production site running safely and efficiently.We’re interested in experienced mechanical engineers from a range of relevant backgrounds, including food manufacturing, FMCG, and agricultural environments.If you’re a practical, hands-on engineer who enjoys fault-finding, repairing machinery and keeping production moving, this could be an excellent opportunity to join a stable business with ongoing investment and genuine opportunities to progress.Please note: This role does not offer visa sponsorship. Due to the location, you will also need a full UK driving licence and your own vehicle.Why Join?£51,000 basic salaryOvertime available – Saturdays paid at x1.5 and Sundays at x2 for qualifying project work5% employer pension contribution matched24 days annual holidayBank Holidays can be booked as annual leaveAnnual salary reviewsLife cover at 3 x salary£200 annual tool allowanceStructured 4-team shift patternEstablished engineering team with around 20 engineersOngoing investment and improvement projects across the siteOpportunities for progression within the site and wider groupShift PatternYou’ll work as part of a 4-team rotating shift pattern, providing engineering support across a busy production operation:12-hour shifts: 8am–8pm / 8pm–8am2 weeks on days, followed by 2 weeks on nights3 Engineers per shiftAdditional electrical engineering support during the dayConsistent rotation, giving you a clear and predictable shift patternKey ResponsibilitiesAs a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll be responsible for keeping production machinery and site infrastructure operating safely, reliably and efficiently.Your Role Will IncludeCarrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenanceDiagnosing and repairing mechanical breakdowns quickly and effectivelyWorking on a wide range of production machinery, equipment and site infrastructureSupporting improvements to machinery reliability, efficiency and performanceCarrying out mechanical fabrication and repair work where requiredUsing workshop machinery including lathes and milling machinesTIG welding and general mechanical engineering workWorking with components including bearings, chains, sprockets, taper locks and associated drive systemsIdentifying recurring faults and contributing to preventative solutionsCompleting maintenance records and reporting accuratelyWorking closely with production and the wider engineering team to minimise downtimeMaintaining high standards of health & safety, housekeeping and complianceAbout YouLevel 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalentStrong practical mechanical maintenance experienceExperience carrying out both planned and reactive maintenanceTIG welding experienceExperience using lathes and milling machinesGood understanding of bearings, chains, sprockets, taper locks and mechanical drive systemsStrong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving abilityExperience working with production machinery, industrial equipment or heavy plantPrevious UK engineering experience is essential, with a good working knowledge of UK engineering practices, workplace safety requirements and relevant health & safety standardsAbility to work safely and effectively within UK manufacturing and engineering environmentsFood or meat processing experience would be advantageousQualifications gained outside the UK: We welcome applications from engineers who have gained their qualifications overseas.
