Mechanical Engineer - Container Terminal

Employment TypeFull-time, Shift-based (rotational shifts including nights and weekends)Role OverviewThe Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance optimization of heavy container handling equipment including Liebherr Diesel Mobile Harbour Cranes (MHCs), Noell Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTGs), Broma spreaders and electric Italguru MHC. The role requires hands-on technical expertise, adherence to safety standards, and coordination with operations teams to ensure maximum equipment uptime.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform preventive and corrective maintenance on Liebherr Diesel MHCs, Noell RTGs, and Broma spreaders.Diagnose mechanical faults and implement timely repairs to minimize downtime.Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements for reliability and efficiency.Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, spare parts usage, and equipment history.Ensure compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations during all maintenance activities.Coordinate with electrical engineers and technicians for integrated troubleshooting.Support shift operations by providing technical assistance during breakdowns.Participate in equipment inspections, audits, and reporting to management.Train and guide junior technicians on mechanical systems and safe work practices.Qualifications & SkillsBachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.3–5 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance, preferably in container terminals or ports.Strong knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and diesel engine systems.Experience on Liebherr MHCs, Noell RTGs, and spreader systems is required.Ability to work in rotational shifts and under high-pressure operational environments.Good communication and teamwork skills.Proficiency in maintenance documentation and reporting tools.Work ConditionsShift-based role (3 shifts of 8 hours per day, including night shifts).Exposure to outdoor port environment with heavy machinery.Requires adherence to PPE and safety standards.
