Apply & track with Apply EdgeThe Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on food processing and packaging equipment. This role ensures maximum machinery reliability, minimizes operational downtime, and strict compliance with food safety (HACCP/GMP) and occupational safety standards.Key ResponsibilitiesPreventive & Corrective Maintenance: Execute scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) plans and carry out mechanical repairs on processing equipment (mixers, slicers, extruders, ovens, fryers) and packaging machinery.Mechanical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults on components such as gearboxes, pumps, valves, bearings, belts, chains, and seals.Food Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP standards, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures during all repair activities. Ensure food-grade lubricants and sanitary design practices are used.Equipment Setup & Line Support: Perform mechanical adjustments, changeovers, and equipment alignments between production runs to meet specific recipe or product specs.Utilities Maintenance: Monitor and perform minor repairs on industrial utility systems, including steam boilers, air compressors, chillers, and water treatment setups.CMMS & Documentation: Log all maintenance work orders, spare parts consumption, and machine history in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).Qualifications & ExperienceEducation: Technical Diploma or Vocational Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.Experience: 3–5 years of mechanical maintenance experience within a food/beverage or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) manufacturing plant.Technical Skills:Strong expertise in industrial hydraulics, pneumatics, drive systems, and power transmission.Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and equipment manuals.Basic fabrication skills (TIG/MIG welding, machining) are a plus.Certifications: Knowledge of HACCP, ISO 22000, or BRC standards preferred.Working Conditions & Physical DemandsPhysical agility to stand, bend, stretch, and lift heavy mechanical parts (up to 25 kg / 50 lbs).Willingness to work in shift patterns (including night shifts and weekends) in varied environments (cold storage rooms or warm oven areas).
