Mechanical Technician – Dry Process Sand Plant

Hiring for Mechanical Technician based in Liwa, Abu DhabiJob PurposeThe Mechanical Technician is responsible for performing preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on mechanical equipment in a dry process sand plant. The role ensures maximum equipment availability, operational efficiency, and strict compliance with safety and environmental standards required for oilfield service operations.Key Responsibilities1. Mechanical MaintenancePerform routine inspection, maintenance, and repair of:Crushers, screens, feedersBelt conveyors and idlersRotary dryers / fluid bed dryersSilos, hoppers, and material handling systemsDiagnose and troubleshoot equipment failures and implement corrective actions promptly.Replace and repair components such as bearings, gearboxes, belts, couplings, shafts, and seals.Carry out alignment, tensioning, and lubrication tasks.2. Equipment ReliabilityEnsure high reliability of plant equipment by adhering to preventive maintenance schedules.Monitor equipment performance and report abnormalities.Assist in root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring breakdowns.Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime.3. Plant Operations SupportAssist in plant start-up, shutdown, and commissioning activities.Coordinate with plant operators to maintain smooth and continuous production.Support installation and upgrading of mechanical systems and equipment.4. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)Comply fully with UAE HSE regulations and company policies.Follow all safety procedures including:Permit to Work (PTW)Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO)Confined Space EntryUse required PPE at all times.Report unsafe conditions, near misses, and incidents immediately.5. Documentation & ReportingMaintain accurate maintenance logs and daily reports.Complete checklists for preventive maintenance activities.Report spare parts requirements and coordinate with stores.Qualifications & ExperienceDiploma or ITI / Technical Certification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.Minimum 3–5 years of experience in:Dry sand processing plantsAggregate / quarry operationsIndustrial or oilfield service environmentsTechnical CompetenciesStrong knowledge of:Conveyor systems and material handling equipmentCrushers, vibrating screens, and dryersExperience with hydraulic and pneumatic systemsAbility to read and interpret technical drawings and manualsHands-on experience with mechanical tools and maintenance practicesBehavioral CompetenciesStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsTeam-oriented with good communication skillsAbility to work under pressure in remote site conditionsHigh commitment to safety and quality standardsWorking ConditionsSite-based role in remote oilfield / industrial environmentExposure to dust, noise, and high temperaturesShift work including night shifts, overtime, and weekends as requiredKey Performance Indicators (KPIs)Equipment uptime and availabilityMaintenance response timeReduction in unplanned equipment failuresCompliance with HSE standardsPreventive maintenance completion rate
