Media & Event Technology Specialist

The Media & Event Technology Specialist provides hands-on audiovisual, media, and event technology support for the Institute’s Buffalo campus. This position supports the day-to-day operation and technical readiness of the Buffalo Campus Center and Forum, including Institute programming, live and hybrid events, and external event clients. The Specialist operates and troubleshoots networked AV systems, Crestron control, Q-SYS audio, live production switching, LED video displays, theatrical and DMX lighting, and related event technologies. The position supports technical event execution from planning and setup through live production and breakdown, working within established procedures and escalating complex issues as appropriate. The Specialist partners with Events, coordinates with the Institute’s AV integration partner as needed, supports capture and production of Buffalo programming, and provides responsive, approachable day-to-day technology support to faculty, staff, students, presenters, and guests.This role requires strong collaboration across locations with a diverse community of students, colleagues, and external partners. The Institute works hard to ensure the community is inclusive so the mission of generating economic opportunities, via successful careers, is maximized.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIESAV Systems Operations & Technical Support 30%- Support the day-to-day operation, monitoring, maintenance coordination, and troubleshooting of Buffalo AV and production systems, including networked AV, Crestron, Q-SYS, LED video, production switching, and DMX/theatrical lighting.Event AV & Live Production 30% - Plan, set up, operate, and support audiovisual and production needs for Institute events, hybrid programming, and external client bookings from pre-event planning through event completion.Technical Coordination & Vendor Support 15% - Coordinate with the Institute’s AV integration partner and Manager of Media & Event Technology to support issue resolution, system maintenance, upgrades, and technical follow-through.Media Capture & Production 15% - Capture and produce Buffalo-based programming, including the Speaking From Experience series, and support recording, streaming, and other media production needs.Campus Technology Support & Service 10% - Provide responsive, approachable first-line technology support for faculty, staff, students, presenters, guests, and campus partners; troubleshoot and escalate issues as appropriate.QUALIFICATIONSMinimum: High school diploma or GEDPreferred: Associate degree in audiovisual technology, media production, broadcast technology, information technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience considered.EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of three years of professional audiovisual, live production, broadcast, event technology, or closely related experience.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting event AV and live production systems in a venue, campus, corporate, or client-facing environment.
• Experience supporting live and hybrid events, working directly with presenters or clients, and resolving technical issues under time pressure, with appropriate escalation when needed.
• Experience with networked AV, Crestron control, Q-SYS audio, live production switching, LED video systems, and DMX/theatrical lighting strongly preferred.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSAbility to stand and walk for extended periods during event setup, operation, and breakdown.
• Ability to lift, carry, position, and move audiovisual and event equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to bend, reach, stoop, climb stairs, and work around installed AV and production equipment as needed.
• Ability to use computers, control surfaces, production equipment, cabling, and other technical tools requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends, based on event and campus needs.
