Expected start Q4 2026 / Q1 2027 Positions: 3 to 4 analysts and 1 team lead (see below)About the roleWe are building a small team to run a daily media monitoring service for an international government client in Guatemala City. Every working day, before 7 a.m., the client receives a press summary, a top news highlights package, and a social media roundup. Through the day, the team sends real-time alerts on WhatsApp when the client or its priority topics appear in the news. On request, the team produces coverage reports, transcriptions, and summaries of press conferences.The work is fast, early, and detail heavy. You will read Guatemalan and international press, watch broadcast and social channels, and turn what matters into short, accurate summaries in English.What you will doMonitor Guatemalan print, broadcast, online, and social media (Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp) starting early each morningWrite three-line summaries in English that answer who, what, when, where, and why, with a link or scan to every sourceSelect and report the top social media posts of the day with reach and engagement figuresBuild the daily highlights package: front pages, top stories, political cartoon, topic summariesSend WhatsApp alerts through the day on client mentions and priority topics: bilateral relations, governance, migration, security, trade, international newsTrack designated foreign state media and embassy accounts and report on their outputProduce transcriptions of video and audio, with speakers identified, usually within two hoursPrepare coverage reports: tone, coverage type, and outlet countsProofread everything before it goes out. One valid complaint a month is the client's limit.What we need from youNative or near-native Spanish and strong written English. Every deliverable is in English; you will be reading in Spanish.Two or more years in journalism, communications, media monitoring, public affairs, or a related fieldWorking knowledge of Guatemalan media, politics, and public lifeExperience with social media analytics tools (for example Meltwater, Brandwatch, Talkwalker, CrowdTangle successors, or native platform analytics).
