Apply & track with Apply EdgeThe Medical Assistant supports primary care providers across multiple program locations in Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, and Manhattan. This role works collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, social workers, and case managers, and assists in coordinating care with external providers to support continuity of services. Medical Assistants are at assigned medical office locations. The role requires flexibility to travel between multiple sites during the week to support assigned providers and ensure consistent coverage of medical suite operations. Under the direction of a provider, the Medical Assistant performs a combination of clinical duties and front and back office administrative functions. Responsibilities may vary based on program needs, and additional duties may be assigned to support operations.Section 1: Essential Functions include, but are not limited to:Clinical Duties:Taking and recording vital signsPreparing patients for examinations and performing basic screeningsCompleting laboratory services including phlebotomy, specimen collection, and point of care testing as directed/ordered by providersEKG examinationsAssisting providers with examinations, procedures, and patient care, contributing to and supporting efficient patient flowMedical supply and equipment maintenance, including inventory management, quality control testing, and vaccine fridge temperature monitoringAdministrative Duties (front and back office):Engaging and collaborating with staff and patients to support appointment scheduling and clinic flow, optimizing provider time and clinic operationsEnsuring accurate and timely documentation of all services in the Electronic Medical Record (eClinicalWorks)Performing front office tasks, including patient intake, insurance verification, collection of required privacy and screening forms, as well as faxing and filingCoordinating specialty referrals and follow-up appointmentsLiaising with laboratories and pharmacies as directed by providersAssisting with billing-related tasks, including prior authorizations and communication with providers and eligibility specialists for coverage determinationMaintaining medical supplies and equipment, including inventory management and quality control testingCompleting monthly quality assurance and compliance documentationMaintaining vaccine logsSection 2.
