The successful candidate will be responsible not only for developing the genomics platform and NGS capability, but also for ensuring that genetic testing is clinically appropriate, diagnostically robust, correctly interpreted and integrated responsibly into patient care.The RoleWorking closely with the medical and leadership teams, you will take ownership of the development of the genetics and pharmacogenetics activity within the centre.You will help determine which genetic tests should be performed, for whom, under which clinical indications, and how those results should be interpreted and communicated within a medical diagnostic environment.The role will span clinical biology, genetics, diagnostics, laboratory development, NGS, quality and regulatory compliance.Key ResponsibilitiesBuild and lead the centre's genetics and pharmacogenetics diagnostic activity, including test strategy, panel selection and clinical indications.Evaluate the clinical and diagnostic relevance of genetic testing within preventive and personalised medicine.Provide biological and clinical interpretation of genetic findings and ensure appropriate validation and reporting of results.Define and supervise the complete NGS workflow, including sample processing, sequencing, bioinformatics, variant interpretation, classification and biological validation.Establish robust diagnostic standards covering analytical validity, clinical validity, quality control and traceability.Determine appropriate testing methodologies and ensure results meet the standards required for use in a clinical healthcare environment.Oversee the scientific and technical setup of the genomics activity, including laboratory organisation, equipment, sequencing technologies, software and bioinformatics tools.Develop procedures for patient consent, genetic testing, interpretation, reporting and management of clinically significant findings.Work closely with physicians to interpret genetic findings alongside laboratory results, medical history, clinical assessment and imaging data, contributing to a broader preventive diagnostic picture.Support the organisation through the relevant French regulatory, authorisation and accreditation processes, including interactions with ARS, Agence de la biomédecine and COFRAC.Establish the quality systems, documentation and procedures required for a compliant medical genetics activity.Remain current with developments in clinical genetics, genomics, pharmacogenetics and molecular diagnostics.Candidate ProfileWe are looking for someone who combines strong clinical diagnostic judgement with deep genetics and genomics expertise.You should be comfortable operating at the intersection of medical biology, molecular diagnostics, laboratory science and patient care.The ideal candidate will have:Qualification and professional standing appropriate to practise as a Medical Biologist in France.A specialisation or significant professional experience in medical genetics, molecular genetics, genomics or molecular diagnostics.Current or recent experience living and practising within the French healthcare system.Strong knowledge of the French medical, laboratory and professional regulatory environment.A solid understanding of the regulatory obligations governing medical biology and genetic testing in France.Hands-on knowledge of NGS-based clinical diagnostics, from testing strategy through to interpretation and biological validation.Strong experience interpreting genetic variants within a clinical or diagnostic context.Understanding of laboratory quality systems, accreditation and clinical diagnostic standards.Experience with or strong knowledge of COFRAC accreditation requirements and the relevant French health authorities.The ability to translate complex genomic information into clinically meaningful conclusions for physicians and patients.The confidence to help build a new diagnostic activity rather than simply operate within an established laboratory.*Applicants must already have the legal right to work in France.Because of the regulated nature of this position, candidates must also have the professional qualifications, registration/recognition and regulatory standing required to practise in France.
