The Medical Director collaborates with the CMO and Director of Nursing and Clinical Services to coordinate across medical services. At the discretion of the CMO, the medical director may represent Peach Tree Health at interagency collaborative meetings across Yuba/Sutter/Sacramento Counties.AdministrativeClinical care oversight and quality assuranceProvide regular and ongoing oversight of provider care & productivity, ensuring excellence in provision of clinical care servicesAssist in developing clinical workflows and protocols consistent with evidence-based practiceMonitor and coach providers to meet Quality Measure targets and goals.Identify best practices for the purpose of continuous quality improvement, assist in implementation of any necessary clinical protocolsPromote provider use of staff facing dashboards and incentives to drive clinical quality improvementParticipate in Quality Assurance, conduct annual evaluation of all providers, address any concerns that arise in peer review evaluationAssist CMO with implementation, monitoring, and improvement of the Provider Incentive programs.Implement policies, objectives, or activities to ensure smooth service delivery, and to increase patient access as indicated.Participate in new provider recruitment, screening and hiring of new providers, as directed by the CMO Oversee providers' schedules to ensure adequate coverage to accommodate demands for medical services and to maximize utilization of organizational resources.Review and approve provider education requestsSupervise advanced practice clinicians and ensure appropriate and timely supervision of all assigned providersProvide advice and counsel to providers on matters related to clinical care, clinical quality, patient grievances, and related issues. Minimize risk and exposure to the organization by monitoring trends, managing issues, coaching providers, and ensuring compliance with all clinical protocols and guidelines.Schedule and conduct monthly Provider Meetings and other management or quality meetings as assigned by CMO.May serve in the capacity of Chief Medical Officer in the event that the CMO is unavailable or if the position is temporarily vacant.Development and Implementation of Medical Department Care Standards and Policies Provide medical guidance to the Operations Team to update or develop policies pertaining to patient care and other related support functions.Maintain medical operations in compliance with applicable state/local laws, regulations, and policies including clinical compliance with the 19 HRSA/FQHC Program requirements.Provide necessary and timely communication to the CMO when issues of patient care, delivery of care, or compliance arise. Assist in development and implementation of a corrective strategy.Ensure all patient records, charts, and related documentation are properly updated and maintained consistent with laws, rules, regulations, and best practices.Clinical CareClinical Assessment, Diagnosis, and TreatmentEvaluate, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic illnesses, injuries, and medical conditions.Prescribe and administer treatments, therapies, medications, vaccinations, and other specialized medical care consistent with scope of practice.Order, perform, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests, laboratory studies, and examination findings.Monitor patient progress and response to treatment plans; modify treatment interventions as clinically indicated.Provide emergency medical services and urgent patient care as necessary.Refer patients to specialists, ancillary services, or other healthcare providers when appropriate.Provide treatment consistent with clinical impressions, diagnoses, and established standards of care.Monitor patient compliance with treatment plans and recommend appropriate interventions.Patient Care and EducationCollect, document, and maintain comprehensive patient medical histories, examination findings, and treatment records.Explain diagnoses, procedures, treatment plans, risks, and test results to patients and families.Counsel patients regarding disease prevention, nutrition, exercise, hygiene, and healthy lifestyle practices.Promote patient satisfaction through compassionate, patient-centered care.Ensure continuity of care throughout the patient's healthcare experience.Facilitate effective care transitions and transfers between healthcare providers and organizations.Ensure healthcare services remain accessible and available to patients.Care Coordination and CollaborationCollaborate with nurses, social workers, rehabilitation specialists, pharmacists, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.Communicate relevant patient information through timely and accurate documentation within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).Provide narrative summaries and clinical documentation to support continuity of care and interdisciplinary communication.Direct and coordinate activities of students, assistants, interns, and other healthcare staff as assigned.Participate in student internship, job shadowing, or clinical education programs as applicable.Quality Improvement and ComplianceParticipate in peer chart reviews and quality assurance activities.Implement recommendations and directives from Quality Improvement (QI), Quality Assurance (QA), Risk Management Committees, and the Board of Directors.Participate in Clinical Outcome Improvement initiatives.Review and comply with established Minimum Quality Standards and clinical performance measures.Maintain compliance with HIPAA, organizational policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.Participate in credentialing and recredentialing activities as required.Support risk management and patient safety initiatives.Administrative and Organizational SupportCheck organizational email and electronic communication systems daily.Complete medical records, reports, and patient documentation accurately and in a timely manner.Assist with the development of grants, program reports, and government reporting requirements, including HRSA and other funding agencies.Participate in staff meetings, in-service training, and continuing education activities.Perform administrative duties and related medical responsibilities as assigned.Education:Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical schoolCurrent, active, and unrestricted physician license in CaliforniaExperience:Minimum of 3 years as a licensed physician.Knowledge of regulatory requirements for federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) preferred.Experience with Managed Care and Medi-Cal charting requirements, billing, and coding preferred.Experience and knowledge of multi-ethnic and underserved communities.Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills PreferredBoard certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics is strongly preferred.Experience in a medical administrative position involving supervision of medical professionals preferred.Knowledge of:Clinical practice
