The hospital aims to expand its specialist services to meet the evolving healthcare needs of the region.Role Description This full-time, on-site role is based at ARAGE HOSPITAL in Kolhapur and combines responsibilities in general medicine (MD Medicine) with consultant-level practice. The MD Medicine, Consultant will conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, diagnose and manage medical conditions, and provide inpatient and outpatient care. Daily activities include performing , prescribing and monitoring treatments, coordinating diagnostic tests, and managing systemic conditions that impact health. The role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, participating in case discussions, and contributing to treatment plans and discharge summaries. The consultant will also counsel patients and families, maintain accurate medical records, follow hospital protocols, and support quality improvement, infection control, and clinical governance initiatives. Teaching and mentoring junior medical staff and participation in continuing medical education activities may be part of the responsibilities.QualificationsRecognized MD in Medicine and formal specialization or significant experience; valid medical license/registration with appropriate regulatory body.Strong clinical skills in diagnosing and managing common medical conditions, including experience with outpatient, inpatient, and emergency care.Proficiency in examination techniques and familiarity with common procedures and investigations.Ability to interpret laboratory, imaging, and diagnostic reports and integrate findings into comprehensive treatment plans.Excellent communication skills for patient counseling, interdisciplinary collaboration, and clear medical documentation.Commitment to ethical practice, patient safety, and adherence to hospital policies, clinical guidelines, and evidence-based standards of care.Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based environment, manage time effectively, and handle a diverse clinical workload.Willingness to participate in continuous professional development, teaching activities, and hospital quality improvement programs.Comfort working in an on-site hospital setting in Kolhapur; knowledge of local languages and community health needs is an advantage.
