Experience in particle therapy, including heavy ion technology (HIT) is strongly preferred.Position Summary:The Clinical Medical Physicist is primarily and professionally engaged in the evaluation, delivery and optimization of radiation therapy. A major responsibility of the radiation oncology physicist is to provide a high standard of clinical physics service and provide oversight of the establishment and conduct of the quality management program. This role will specifically serve the Heavy Ion Therapy/Carbon Ion radiation therapy program. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:Responsible for treatment planning, quality assurance, safety of patient radiation treatment delivery, weekly chart checks, and process improvement for modalities include but not limited to external beam, SRS/SRBT, HDR Brachytherapy, SRS, SRT etcAssist in developing radiation oncology medical physics program, policies, and procedures.Participates in departmental research, education, presentations, meetings, and chart rounds.Implement new treatment techniques/procedures for the center when needed, support advanced treatment and image guided technology, and take a lead role in collaboration with vendors and IT to address clinically related hardware and software issuesEvaluates patient and records applicable notes about patient’s condition for purposes of serving as a record of treatment and/or making a possible referral to another member of the health care medical staff team.Ensure oncology radiation physics services comply with UAE applicable regulations and requirements. Liaisons with other medical and non-medical staff at CCAD to ensure quality patient treatmentSupplies and provides care in a culturally appropriate and sensitive mannerLiaise for machine maintenance and repair with Clinical Engineering Department.Follows ethical and regulatory guidelinesTakes part in administrative functions that ensure the continued operations of the clinical environment, such as committees, task forces and performance improvement measuresAdheres to individual approved clinical privileges, as well as to all policies and procedures of the Medical StaffPerforms other duties as assignedLead machine acceptance testing and prepare the required documentation to support FANR regulatory compliance for heavy ion technology (HIT) and particle therapy.Develop HIT/CIRT-specific quality assurance guidelines, testing procedures, and documentation frameworks.Contribute to treatment planning protocols for HIT/CIRT, including dose calculation methods, algorithm modeling, and plan validation techniques.The role will include international travel for training purposes.Role Level Accountabilities:Strictly complies with proper radiation safety requirements as mandated by FANR as well as international radiation safety standards, as appropriate; and must adhere to all CCAD-wide policies pertaining to radiation safety and the correct management and wear of occupational radiation monitoring badges. (If granted as an authorized user) Upholds and complies with the security measures as required for the HDR Brachytherapy suite.Adheres to CCAD’s standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policiesIn view of the evolving needs and opportunities within CCAD, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.Experience RequirementsA minimum of five (5) years’ clinical radiation therapy experience with broad experience in treatment planning and quality management Experience in particle therapy, including heavy ion technology (HIT), with specific exposure to carbon ion radiation therapy (CIRT). [Preferred]Education RequirementsMasters or PhD in radiation physics Holder of current license as required by state and/or national authorityValid UAE License or Eligible for UAE LicenseABR board certification in radiation therapy physics.
