OverviewThe Mendix Developer – Web designs, builds, and maintains high-quality enterprise web applications on the Mendix low-code platform. The role translates business requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions, integrates them with the wider IT landscape, and champions engineering best practices across the application lifecycle.Key ResponsibilitiesApplication Development & ArchitectureDesign, build, and deploy Mendix web applications using best-practice architecture and development patterns.Translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable, high-quality Mendix solutions.Develop complex domain models, microflows, nanoflows, workflows, and responsive UI components (Atlas UI, page templates, custom widgets).Build custom components using Java and JavaScript actions written to company conventions and best practices.Design and implement robust Mendix security models (user roles, module roles, entity/page/microflow access) strictly following the principle of least privilege.Ensure application performance, scalability, reliability, and compliance with enterprise standards.Conduct thorough code reviews to enforce quality, consistency, and maintainability.Implement auditing, logging, and monitoring while championing DevOps, BizDevOps, and SecDevOps principles.Build productized, reusable modules for use across apps and projects.Integration & System DesignIntegrate Mendix applications with external systems via REST, SOAP, OData, Kafka, databases, and identity providers (OIDC, Azure AD).Design, document, and publish APIs following REST/SOAP best practices, including versioning, authentication, and rate limiting.Design highly modular, reusable components (modules, microflows, nanoflows, snippets, document templates) and work with Mendix Building Blocks.Collaborate with enterprise architects, infrastructure teams, and system owners to align solutions with the broader IT landscape.Maintain strong documentation discipline: clean code, in-app documentation, and complete handover deliverables (LLD, API documentation).Required Skills & QualificationsTechnical SkillsMendix Advanced certification required; Expert preferred.5+ years of Mendix development experience with at least one complex application delivered to production.Expert-level knowledge of domain modeling, microflows, nanoflows, security models, Java/JavaScript actions, and Mendix best practices.Strong Java and JavaScript proficiency for custom actions, debugging, and performance optimization.Strong experience with REST/SOAP web services, API design, and API documentation.Advanced SQL skills: complex queries, joins, and indexing.Experience with Git-based development, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployments; performed multiple Mendix major upgrades.Hands-on experience with on-premise environments; solid understanding of networking, certificates, firewalls, and proxy configurations.Proficient in leveraging AI tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT) to accelerate development, debugging, and documentation.Soft SkillsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly for complex integration and performance issues under tight deadlines, while remaining calm and positive during high-pressure situations.Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to write clear, professional client emails and documentation and conduct client-facing discussions.Strong stakeholder-management and facilitation skills for workshops and requirement sessions.Comfortable in agile/scaled-agile and waterfall environments; adept at managing scope, bridging customer expectations, and enforcing process in structured deliveries.Highly proactive: identifies blockers, proposes solutions, and drives initiatives when progress slows or new opportunities arise.Proven ability to work independently while leading technical workstreams.
