MEP Engineer – Swimming Pool

Job Purpose:To plan, design, execute, and supervise the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) works related to swimming pools, water features, and associated filtration, circulation, disinfection, and pool automation systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, safety standards, and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Review and interpret swimming pool MEP drawings, specifications, and BOQs, and coordinate with design consultants for approvals.Plan, install, test, and commission pool circulation and filtration systems including pumps, sand/cartridge/DE filters, strainers, and balance tanks.Execute pool water treatment systems – chlorination/bromination, ozone, UV disinfection, dosing and pH control systems.Supervise installation of pool piping networks (PVC/uPVC/HDPE), skimmers, inlets, main drains, overflow gutters, and backwash lines.Oversee electrical works for pool pump rooms, underwater lighting, control panels, and bonding/earthing as per pool safety codes.Coordinate installation of pool heating systems (heat pumps, boilers, solar) and counter-current/jet systems where applicable.Ensure compliance with international pool standards (e.g., NSPI, FINA, DIN 19643, local municipality/civil defense regulations).Conduct pressure testing, chlorination/flushing of pipelines, and water balance testing prior to handover.Coordinate with civil, structural, finishing, and landscape teams for interface works (waterproofing, tiling, deck equipment).Prepare method statements, ITPs, testing & commissioning reports, and as-built documentation.Manage subcontractors, vendors, and site labor to ensure works progress as per schedule and quality standards.Ensure adherence to HSE requirements throughout installation, testing, and commissioning activities.Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to pool equipment, automation (BMS/PLC), and control systems.Support handover, training of O&M staff, and preparation of O&M manuals for pool MEP systems.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering.Additional certification in Swimming Pool Engineering / Water Treatment (preferred, not mandatory).Required Experience & Skills:3–8 years of hands-on MEP experience with a strong focus on swimming pool / water feature projects.Sound knowledge of pool hydraulics, filtration & disinfection systems, and pool automation/control panels.Experience with pool equipment brands (e.g., Pentair, Astral, Speck, Certikin, Waterco) is an advantage.Proficiency in reading MEP shop drawings, AutoCAD, and MS Office/Project.Strong understanding of testing & commissioning procedures and relevant codes/standards.Good coordination, communication, and site supervision skills.Ability to manage multiple trades and subcontractors on-site.Key Competencies:Technical problem-solving and attention to detail.Strong planning, organizing, and time-management abilities.Effective communication with clients, consultants, and site teams.Commitment to safety, quality, and project deadlines.
