MEP Trainer

Job PurposeThe MEP Trainer is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering technical training programmes related to Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems within Facilities Management operations. The role ensures that technical staff possess the required knowledge, skills, certifications, and competencies to operate and maintain building systems safely and efficiently while complying with client, regulatory, and organisational standards.Key ResponsibilitiesTraining DeliveryConduct classroom, practical, and on-site technical training sessions for FM personnel.Deliver training on Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Fire & Life Safety Systems, Building Management Systems (BMS), and other critical infrastructure.Facilitate induction and orientation programmes for newly joined technical staff.Deliver refresher and competency enhancement programmes for existing employees.Training DevelopmentDevelop training materials, presentations, manuals, SOPs, assessments, and technical handbooks.Design competency-based learning programmes aligned with operational requirements.Update training content based on technological advancements, client requirements, and industry best practices.Create training calendars and learning pathways for different technical roles.Competency AssessmentConduct theoretical and practical assessments to evaluate employee competency levels.Identify training gaps and recommend development plans.Maintain assessment records and training matrices.Certify technical staff upon successful completion of training programmes.Technical Excellence & ComplianceEnsure compliance with UAE regulations, HSE standards, and client requirements.Promote safe working practices including Lockout Tagout (LOTO), Electrical Safety, Permit to Work, Working at Height, and Confined Space procedures.Support operational teams in implementing best maintenance practices.Assist in standardising maintenance procedures across facilities.Stakeholder ManagementCoordinate with Operations Managers, Account Managers, and Site Teams to identify training needs.Liaise with external training providers and certification bodies when required.Support audits, inspections, and client reviews related to staff competency and training records.Reporting & DocumentationMaintain accurate training records, attendance reports, and certification databases.Prepare monthly training reports and KPI dashboards.Monitor training effectiveness through feedback and performance improvement metrics.QualificationsBachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field.Certified Trainer qualification (Train-the-Trainer certification preferred).Additional certifications in HVAC, Electrical Systems, BMS, FM, or HSE will be advantageous.ExperienceMinimum 5-8 years of experience in Facilities Management, MEP Maintenance, or Building Operations.Minimum 2-3 years of experience in technical training or learning & development.Experience training multi-skilled technicians within a large FM environment.Knowledge of commercial, residential, healthcare, hospitality, or mixed-use facilities.Technical SkillsHVAC SystemsElectrical Distribution SystemsPlumbing & Water SystemsFire Alarm & Fire Fighting SystemsBuilding Management Systems (BMS)Preventive & Corrective MaintenanceCAFM SystemsTechnical DocumentationRisk Assessment & Safety ProceduresRoot Cause Analysis (RCA)Behavioural CompetenciesExcellent presentation and facilitation skillsStrong communication and interpersonal abilitiesCoaching and mentoring mindsetProblem-solving and analytical skillsPlanning and organisational skillsAttention to detailAbility to engage multicultural workforcesKey Performance Indicators (KPIs)Training hours delivered.Employee competency pass rate.Technical certification completion rate.Reduction in technical errors and repeat breakdowns.Compliance with mandatory training requirements.Employee feedback and training effectiveness scores.Improvement in operational performance indicators.
