Job TitleMI & Analytics ManagerReporting ToHead of MI, Analysis & InsightLocationRemote/Flexible. 1 day per month in Leeds or Milton Keynes.About the CompanyPart of Brown & Brown, Hedron connects and supports independent insurance brokers across the UK with services that help them grow and succeedRole PurposeThere are three primary purposes to this role:Manage the delivery of business-critical reporting and insight to stakeholders across the business that underpins data-driven decision makingLead, define and execute the migration of an existing reporting suite from spreadsheet-based processes into scalable BI or data platformsLead, coach and develop a small team of data analysts, building capability and improving technical and analytical skillsThis role requires a commercially aware individual that is a hands-on leader who can combine technical expertise, people development, and change management to build a scalable analytics function. They will be equally comfortable supporting and developing junior team members, engaging senior stakeholders, and leading the transition from manual reporting processes to a modern data-driven environment. The successful candidate will be au fait with insurance industry data, responsible for managing and developing a team of analysts, maintaining the delivery of business-critical reporting, and leading the migration of existing Excel-based reporting into a scalable data and analytics platform.Key Responsibilities1. Data Team LeadershipExperience leading and developing a small data, MI or analytics team, preferably in the insurance industry.Ability to set priorities, manage workloads, and balance business-as-usual reporting with transformation activity.Strong stakeholder management skills, including engagement with senior business leaders and operational teams.Experience creating a data-driven culture and improving how insight is consumed by the business.2. Commercial Insight & Business ValueAbility to translate complex data into actionable commercial insight.Experience prioritising reporting and analytics activity that drives revenue growth, operational efficiency, or customer value.Strong focus on delivering insight rather than simply producing reports.3. Reporting Transformation & Platform MigrationProven track record of migrating reporting from spreadsheet-based processes into scalable BI or data platforms.Experience defining reporting architecture, data models, governance, and reporting standards.Ability to assess current-state processes and develop a roadmap for modernisation.Experience delivering change whilst maintaining existing reporting services.4. Technical & Data ExpertiseExcellent understanding of insurance industry dataStrong understanding of data management, ETL processes, data quality, and reporting best practice.Experience with modern BI platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Qlik, or similar.Comfortable working with SQL and understanding database structures.Experience automating manual reporting processes and reducing key-person dependency.5. Coaching & Team DevelopmentDemonstrable experience developing junior analysts.Ability to assess current capability gaps and create development plans.Experience mentoring team members in analytical thinking, stakeholder engagement, and technical skills.Passion for building a sustainable, high-performing team rather than acting as a sole technical expert.Knowledge & ExperienceEssentialProven experience leading, managing, and developing a team of analysts.Experience managing stakeholders and translating business requirements into reporting and insight solutions.Proven experience delivering reporting, analytics or business intelligence services.Strong understanding of data management, data quality, reporting governance, and analytical best practices.Experience delivering reporting transformation projects and driving process improvement.Experience migrating or modernising reporting solutions from manual or spreadsheet-based processes.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.Ability to balance strategic initiatives with day-to-day operational delivery.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.Experience coaching, mentoring, and developing junior team members.Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large-scale reporting solutionsExperience using business intelligence and visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or equivalent.What Success Looks LikeThe successful candidate will be a hands-on data and analytics leader, responsible for developing a small team, maintaining business-critical reporting, and leading the transition from Excel-based reporting to a scalable analytics platform, delivering meaningful insight that supports business growth and decision-making.
