MicrobiologistRole Type: ContractorLocation: RemotePay: $70 - $90/hourRole OverviewA leading artificial intelligence organization is seeking experienced microbiologists to contribute their scientific expertise to an advanced AI training project. In this role, you will help improve how next-generation AI systems understand, analyze, and reason about complex microbiological concepts.Your work will involve reviewing scientific content, evaluating AI-generated outputs, and providing accurate, real-world insights based on your professional expertise. Prior AI experience is not required; deep knowledge of microbiology and strong scientific judgment are the primary qualifications.Key ResponsibilitiesAnalyze concepts related to the development, morphology, physiology, and behavior of microorganisms, including bacteria, fungi, and algae.Apply expertise in medical microbiology to evaluate relationships between microorganisms, human health, and disease.Assess how antibiotics, antimicrobial agents, and environmental factors affect microbial populations.Review AI-generated scientific content for accuracy, completeness, clarity, and appropriate reasoning.Document scientific findings, methodologies, and explanations in a clear and structured manner.Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to maintain scientific rigor and data integrity.Provide written feedback and subject-matter guidance on microbiological phenomena and their real-world applications.Apply established rubrics and evaluation criteria to assess the quality of scientific data and AI-generated work.Identify scientific errors, unsupported conclusions, and gaps in reasoning, and recommend appropriate corrections.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree or higher in microbiology, biology, chemistry, or a related scientific field.Strong knowledge of bacterial, fungal, and algal systems.Demonstrated understanding of microbial structure, physiology, growth, and behavior.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to explain technical scientific concepts clearly to both specialized and interdisciplinary audiences.Strong attention to detail and a commitment to scientific accuracy.Ability to work independently in a fully remote, digital-first environment.Comfort following detailed project guidelines and applying consistent evaluation standards.Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree or PhD in microbiology, biology, or a related field.Experience conducting microbiological research or laboratory investigations.Prior experience developing or applying scientific, academic, or educational evaluation rubrics.Experience reviewing scientific publications, technical reports, or research data.Familiarity with AI training, machine learning, data annotation, or scientific evaluation projects.
