This role serves as a technical subject matter expert for microbiological testing and quality-related activities, ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory, accreditation, and internal quality requirements. The ideal candidate possesses strong hands-on microbiology laboratory experience, method validation expertise, and a thorough understanding of quality systems within a regulated environment.Primary ResponsibilitiesTechnical MicrobiologyPerform microbiological testing in accordance with approved procedures, protocols, and quality requirements.Conduct sample receipt, inspection, log-in, testing, status updates, and data review activities.Perform testing including bioburden enumeration, sterility testing, microbial identification, environmental monitoring, and other microbiological assays as required.Analyze and interpret microbiological data using scientific principles and basic statistical tools.Identify and determine the disposition of non-conforming products, samples, or test results.Validation & Method DevelopmentDesign, execute, and document method validations, verifications, and method transfer studies.Develop, optimize, validate, and implement new microbiological methods and processes.Prepare, review, and approve validation protocols and reports.Support equipment qualification activities and assess laboratory testing capabilities.Evaluate method performance, suitability, and compliance with applicable standards and client requirements.Quality & ComplianceEnsure compliance with GMP, GLP, ISO 17025, and internal quality system requirements.Author, revise, and maintain SOPs, work instructions, forms, protocols, and technical reports.Support investigations related to nonconformances, deviations, OOS results, and CAPAs.Review and approve laboratory data generated by operations personnel.Participate in internal audits, external audits, and accreditation assessments.Initiate and implement corrective and preventive actions and support continuous improvement activities.Technical Expertise & CollaborationServe as a technical resource for microbiological testing, method validation, and troubleshooting activities.Collaborate with Quality, Operations, Validation, and client-facing teams to ensure successful project execution.Support onboarding and training activities related to microbiological methods and laboratory best practices.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within laboratory operations.Evaluate laboratory equipment, technologies, and processes to improve testing efficiency, quality, and compliance.Perform additional duties as assigned.Qualifications & RequirementsBachelor's degree or Master’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related life science discipline required.Minimum of 3-5 years of microbiology laboratory experience in a regulated environment.Demonstrated experience with microbiological testing, method validation, troubleshooting, and laboratory investigations.Experience authoring technical reports, protocols, SOPs, and quality documentation.Canyon Labs offers several benefits as part of your total compensation, including but not limited to:Paid Time Off, Sick Time, and Paid HolidaysMedical, Dental and Vision InsuranceLong term disability insurance, life insurance401(k) with company match up to 4%At Canyon Labs, we are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace.
