Mid-Level AI / Machine Learning Engineer

Who are we?At Ytech, we live and breathe technology.Our mission is to turn challenges into solutions and continuously find new ways to innovate.Founded in 2020, we are a technology start-up operating in the IT and Telecommunications sectors, with a clear ambition: to challenge the market, break conventions, and create real value through innovation.What challenge do we have for you?🎯 Experience level: 1 to 4 yearsWe are looking for a Junior to Mid-Level AI / Machine Learning Engineer to join a team focused on building and improving AI-powered products.You will work on practical Machine Learning challenges involving document and email processing, NLP, Large Language Models, model training and fine-tuning, AI Agents, and inference performance.You will work closely with a Senior AI Engineer and the Software Engineering team, experimenting with different approaches, evaluating results, and turning promising ideas into reliable product features.🧠 What we value in you:1 to 4 years of professional experience in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, NLP, or a closely related engineering role.Strong Python skills and experience writing maintainable and testable code.Practical experience with PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers, or similar Machine Learning frameworks.Good understanding of model training, fine-tuning, validation, and evaluation.Hands-on experience with at least one of the following:NLP or transformer-based models;LLM applications;Information extraction or document classification;Embeddings, semantic search, or retrieval;AI Agents or tool-calling systems.Ability to prepare datasets and build training, fine-tuning, and evaluation pipelines.Ability to design experiments, compare different approaches, and understand why a solution is or is not working.Experience with Git, debugging, testing, and basic Docker workflows.Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.Ability to clearly document technical work and communicate findings.Fluent English, both written and spoken.Nice to have:Experience with LLM fine-tuning using LoRA, QLoRA, PEFT, or Supervised Fine-Tuning.Experience building evaluation datasets, benchmarks, regression tests, or LLM-as-a-Judge workflows.Familiarity with RAG, vector search, reranking, or hybrid search.Experience with AI Agent frameworks such as LangGraph or similar orchestration tools.Familiarity with experiment tracking and observability tools such as MLflow, Weights & Biases, or Langfuse.Experience improving inference latency, throughput, reliability, or cost.Experience deploying models through APIs or cloud services.Familiarity with FastAPI, PostgreSQL, or Elasticsearch.Open-source contributions, relevant side projects, research, or active participation in the AI/ML community.Previous experience in a product, consulting, or client-facing environment.Dutch is considered a plus.🚀 What will you be doing?Prepare datasets and build training, fine-tuning, and evaluation pipelines.Train, fine-tune, test, and improve NLP and language models.Work with transformer models, embeddings, classification, information extraction, and document-processing systems.Build proofs of concept and evaluate multiple approaches to complex AI problems.Experiment with AI Agents, tool-calling workflows, and agent loops.Measure and improve model quality, agent reliability, latency, and cost.Investigate model behaviour, evaluation results, and training issues.Integrate models and AI pipelines into production services.Collaborate closely with the Senior AI Engineer and Software Engineering team.Contribute to technical documentation and communicate findings clearly.Occasionally interact with customers to better understand real-world problems and improve the product.🎁 Benefits of joining our team:Challenging projects with a strong technological focus.Training and certification programme.Health insurance.Flexible benefits.Structured career progression.Continuous support from the Ytech team.📩 Send your CV to gsantos@ytech.io and discover what we can build together. 🚀
