Mid-Level PHP/Magento 2 Developer

The Mid-Level PHP/Magento 2 Developer delivers development work, bug fixes and technical support on the company's Magento 2 (Adobe Commerce) platform during the night shift.This is a hands-on engineering role. It builds new features, fixes defects and resolves production issues, so the platform has full engineering coverage outside day-shift hours.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelopmentDesign, build and maintain Magento 2 custom modules, plugins, observers and GraphQL/REST endpoints.Deliver feature tickets and enhancements from analysis through to deployment.Work on checkout, order, shipping, refund and payment gateway flows.Fixes & Technical SupportInvestigate and fix bugs and production issues raised during the shift.Pick up P1/P2 tickets immediately and keep them moving within the agreed SLA.Provide technical support to internal teams on platform issues, and escalate to the Backend Team Lead with findings documented when a senior decision is needed.Code QualityFollow the team's branch, commit and PR conventions, and pass all CI gates (PHPStan, PHPCS, code review).Hand over only ready-to-merge PRs for deployment windows.Ticket Management & ProcessWork tickets on Jira following the Development Process SLA: initial assessment comment, required fields, status updates and an end-of-day comment.Work on one ticket at a time and log time accurately in Time Doctor.Handover & CollaborationWrite a clear end-of-shift handover for the day team: what was delivered, what is open, and what needs attention.Work with the Product Owners, QA and the frontend team to verify fixes and support post-live testing.RequirementsEssential3–5 years of professional PHP development, including at least 2 years hands-on with Magento 2 (Adobe Commerce).Custom module development: plugins, observers, preferences, dependency injection and service contracts.Checkout, order, shipping and refund flows, and payment gateway integration.REST and GraphQL APIs in Magento 2.MySQL: queries, indexing and troubleshooting slow queries.Git, Composer and Docker-based local environments.Working with static analysis and coding standards (PHPStan, PHPCS) and CI pipelines.Hands on experience with Claude Code and Claude Cowork Able to debug production issues independently from logs and work under time pressure.Clear written English for Jira comments and shift handovers.PreferredAdyen payment integration experience.Multi-store or multi-currency Magento setups.Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Redis and Varnish.Experience with AI-assisted development tools.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.Working HoursNight shift, 2:00 AM–11:00 AM PKT.Monday to Friday.Occasional extended cover during go-lives and critical incidents.Weekends will be rotational and compensated as off time.
