Mid Senior Backend Engineer

Our mission is to make digital tools accessible, culturally relevant, and meaningful for those often left behind in the digital shift.The roleDevelop and maintain backend services and integrations for Send Services. You will own well-scoped service changes and collaborate with senior engineers on distributed-system design, payment flows, and production rollout decisions.ResponsibilitiesBuild and maintain C# and .NET services, REST APIs, and third-party integrations.Model data, write SQL, and implement reviewed schema migrations and transaction handling.Implement reliable processing with idempotency, bounded retries, timeouts, and clear failure handling.Work with queues and asynchronous events, including duplicate delivery and failed-message investigation.Write unit and integration tests for normal, failure, and recovery scenarios.Support CI/CD and container workflows, add useful logs and metrics, and investigate production issues.Coordinate API contracts with frontend, mobile, and QA engineers; escalate high-risk changes before release.Required qualificationsProduction backend development experience with C# and .NET.Practical REST API design, validation, authentication, and authorization skills.Strong SQL fundamentals and experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL, including transactions and indexing.Understanding of asynchronous processing, data consistency, idempotency, and retries.Hands-on AWS experience, familiarity with Docker, and the ability to work with deployment pipelines.Automated testing, Git, code review, and systematic debugging skills.Ability to deliver scoped service changes independently and explain implementation risks clearly.Ability to use AI tools such as Claude and OpenAI products to improve work productivity: develop APIs and integrations, review SQL queries, debug issues, and prepare unit tests, integration tests, and technical documentation.Ability to provide clear context and instructions to AI, critically review and test its output, and explain resulting improvements in turnaround time or quality. Retain responsibility for the final work and protect code, credentials, and confidential data in line with company policy.Preferred qualificationsPayments, reconciliation, webhooks, or other external integrations.AWS Lambda, SQS, dead-letter queues, or ECS Fargate.Infrastructure as code, staged rollouts, and backward-compatible API changes.Success in this roleYou deliver reliable service changes with tests, observable failure handling, and safe rollout steps. Shared architecture and critical payment changes receive appropriate senior review.
