Location: Hefei, ChinaRelocation: Full support provided for European candidatesType: Full-timeAbout the RoleWe're looking for a versatile designer with a background in Industrial, UI, or CMF Design who understands user research and the full product development cycle — from the first insight all the way through to manufacturing.This isn't a narrow, single-discipline role.

You'll own the journey: digging into user needs, translating insights into design concepts, refining materials and interfaces, and working hand-in-hand with engineering to bring products to life on the factory floor.You will have the opportunity to join Midea (world-eading in home appliances and global fortune 500), entering a multinational company with strong opportunities to grow and drive change.Opportunity for youYou'll come to China as a Midea expat, joining our overseas design team within Midea Refrigerator Design — 80+ designers across CMF, UI, and ID — with a dual mandate: design for international markets while contributing to domestic product innovation. You'll be part of an international-led team brought in to challenge convention and bring fresh vision to the company.The objective is not to stay in China. This role is a bridge, not a destination.You'll have the opportunity to join new design teams in the EU (Italy / Spain) and the USA as they take shape. Your time in Hefei is the foundation — learning how things are really made, how manufacturing culture operates, and how design plays out from insight to production. Then you bring that knowledge back out into the world.For a European designer, this is rare: to work closer to manufacturing than most roles in Europe allow, to see the entire product journey in one place, and to build experience that's genuinely hard to get anywhere else — all while knowing it's leading somewhere, not just somewhere new.What You'll DoConcept & Design: Develop concepts across industrial design, UI, or CMF — depending on your strengths and the project.Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, manufacturers, and product managers.Strategic Visioning: Help define the future product roadmap for overseas markets (EU, US).Research & Insight: Conduct research, interviews, and field studies to uncover real needs and pain points.Prototyping: Build and test prototypes, iterating quickly based on user and stakeholder feedback.Manufacturing Handoff: Ensure designs are production-ready — understanding materials, processes, tolerances, and cost.End-to-End Ownership: Follow products from early insight through to mass production.What We're Looking ForBackground in Industrial Design, UI Design, or CMF Design (or a blend).Solid understanding of research methods and how to turn insights into design decisions.Experience across the full product development lifecycle — ideally including exposure to manufacturing.A portfolio that shows both thinking and making — process, not just pretty renders.Comfort working in a fast-paced environment.English fluency required.
