The choir educator is responsible for planning and delivering daily choir instruction, including vocal technique, music literacy, sight-reading, and performance preparation for middle school students. Day-to-day responsibilities include selecting age-appropriate repertoire, organizing rehearsals, coordinating concerts and performances, and assessing student progress through formal and informal evaluations. The role involves collaborating with campus staff, communicating regularly with families, maintaining a safe and inclusive classroom environment, and supporting student participation in district and regional music events. Additional duties may include supervising extracurricular choir activities, contributing to campus initiatives, and participating in professional development and staff meetings.QualificationsState-issued teaching certification or eligibility for certification in Music (or appropriate content area), and a bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field.Demonstrated proficiency in vocal music, including choral conducting, vocal pedagogy, and music literacy appropriate for middle school students.Experience planning and delivering standards-based music instruction, including lesson design, assessment, and classroom management.Ability to organize and direct student performances, concerts, and events, including rehearsal planning and coordination with campus staff.Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, colleagues, and community partners.Commitment to creating an inclusive, culturally responsive learning environment that supports diverse learners.Comfort using educational technology and digital tools to support instruction, communication, and student engagement.Prior experience teaching choir or working with youth in music settings is preferred; experience in public school settings is a plus.
