Apply & track with Apply EdgeOn behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced Mine Geologist to support ore control, grade control, geological mapping, and resource optimisation activities within an active mining operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily ore control and grade control activities at active mining areas and working faces.
- Identify, interpret and clearly mark ore and waste boundaries to minimize ore loss and dilution.
- Carry out geological face and pit/bench mapping, sampling and logging of lithology, alteration, mineralisation and structures.
- Collect and manage grade control samples in accordance with approved sampling, QA/QC and safety procedures.
- Monitor ore quality and provide timely geological and grade information to Mining, Production and Processing teams.
- Collaborate with mining engineers and surveyors on dig plans, mining boundaries, ore extraction and short-term mine planning.
- Monitor and document daily mining activities, geological conditions, ore movement and relevant ROM stockpiles where applicable.
- Perform geological and grade reconciliation by comparing planned/modelled information with actual mining and production results.
- Update and maintain geological databases, plans, sections, 3D models and ore control records.
- Assist with drill core/chip logging, geotechnical logging and field checks of drill hole locations and orientation when required.
- Prepare daily, weekly and periodic geological/ore control reports and communicate significant geological changes to the Senior Geologist/Chief Geologist.
- Ensure all geological activities comply with company health, safety and environmental requirements.Qualification & Requirements :
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, Applied Geology or a related field.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in mining geology, preferably in ore control/grade control within an operating mine.
- Strong working knowledge of geological, structural and grade control principles and sampling practices.
- Ability to identify rock types, alteration, structures and mineralisation; experience with iron and copper mineralisation is required.
- Proficiency in geological software and database systems; ArcGIS, Global Mapper and/or Micromine is advantageous.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, reporting, communication and teamwork skills.
- Willing to work at remote mine sites, under varying weather conditions, and relocate according to project requirements.
- Valid driving licence and ability to meet applicable pre-employment and site requirements.
- Experience in ore control, grade control, ore/waste delineation and geological reconciliation.
- Experience with 3D geological modelling and interpretation software, particularly Micromine or equivalent.
- Knowledge of QA/QC practices for geological sampling and data management.
- Strong mine-site safety awareness and ability to work under operational deadlines and with a multicultural workforce.
- Familiarity with the JORC Code and resource/reserve reporting principles is advantageous.
- Knowledge of other economic minerals such as tin and rare earth elements (REE) is an advantage.Interested candidate may send resume to : anisah.abdullah@perkeso.gov.my
