We are looking for an experienced Mine Rescue Supervisor to join our Health & Safety team in Liberia, West Africa.This position plays an active field-based role in maintaining the operational readiness and technical capability of the Mine Rescue Team, conducting training and emergency drills, and directly participating in emergency response operations within an underground mining environment.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain and monitor the shift-based operational readiness and emergency response capability of the Mine Rescue Team.Coordinate the daily and weekly duties of Mine Rescue Team members and conduct practical field training and physical conditioning activities.Ensure the effective implementation of emergency response plans for underground incidents, including fire, ground collapse, gas exposure, flooding, entrapment, and other emergency scenarios.Perform regular inspections, testing, maintenance, and readiness checks of closed-circuit breathing apparatus (BG4 or similar), gas detection devices, stretchers, hydraulic rescue equipment, first-aid equipment, and other emergency response equipment.Maintain accurate and signed records of equipment inspections, testing, maintenance, and calibration activities.Plan, organize, and conduct periodic mine rescue and emergency evacuation drills, including the preparation of annual drill plans and emergency scenarios.Mobilize rapidly during actual emergencies, actively participate in rescue operations, and provide direct on-site leadership to the Mine Rescue Team.Ensure the safety of Mine Rescue Team members as the first priority during emergency response operations.Prepare technical evaluation reports following emergency drills and actual interventions and submit findings to the Mine Rescue Supervisor.Work closely with Health & Safety, Medical, and Underground Mining Operations teams to maintain a strong emergency preparedness culture across the site.Monitor spare parts, medical supplies, oxygen cylinders, and consumables at the Mine Rescue Station and support material planning and procurement processes.Fulfil assigned duties and responsibilities under the Emergency Action Plan and Emergency Management Plan.Perform other duties assigned by the line manager or company management in line with the position’s knowledge, experience, and competencies.QualificationsEducationBachelor's or associate degree in a relevant technical or engineering discipline.ExperienceMinimum 3 years of hands-on Mine Rescue experience within the mining industry, preferably in underground gold mining operations.Proven experience in mine rescue operations, emergency response, accident intervention, and field-based rescue activities.Previous experience as a Mine Rescue Team Member, Team Captain, First Aider, or Emergency Response Personnel is preferred.Technical SkillsStrong practical knowledge of underground emergency response, firefighting, evacuation, search & rescue, and gas-related emergency scenarios.Practical experience with closed-circuit breathing apparatus such as BG4 or similar equipment.Knowledge of gas detection and monitoring equipment.Knowledge of emergency rescue equipment, including hydraulic cutting and spreading equipment, stretchers, and first-aid equipment.Ability to conduct practical Mine Rescue training and emergency response drills.Knowledge of emergency equipment inspection, testing, maintenance, and readiness requirements.Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for reporting and documentation.Soft SkillsStrong field leadership and team coordination skills.Ability to make quick and effective decisions during emergencies and high-pressure situations.Strong safety awareness and field discipline.Good communication and teamwork skills.Ability to work effectively with Health & Safety, Medical, and Underground Mining Operations teams.Basic to intermediate verbal and written communication skills in English.Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment.Additional RequirementsPhysically fit to actively participate in Mine Rescue training, drills, and underground emergency response operations.Willing and able to work in an underground mining environment.
