Team members join a fast-evolving health technology company working at the intersection of hardware, software, and AI.What you'll do- Own the mobile app end to end: features, architecture, testing, and releases- Build against real hardware — streaming live sensor data over BLE, guided real-time user experiences, device pairing, and over-the-air firmware updates- Own the backend: Postgres schema, auth, sync rules, storage, and edge functions on Supabase- Run the release pipeline: CI, EAS builds, and test distribution to iOS and Android- Work directly with the founder on product direction and with hardware/firmware on protocol changes- Help shape the engineering culture and quality practices as the team growsWhat makes this role interesting- Software meets hardware: your code talks to a physical device users hold in their hands, in real time- Full ownership: no legacy committee — you'll be the technical owner of the app and backend, with direct product input- Strong foundation: 600+ automated tests, CI-gated releases, issue-traceable history, and modern tooling Required qualifications- 3+ years building production React Native apps with TypeScript- Deep Expo experience: dev clients, EAS Build, config plugins, and prebuild workflows (not Expo Go-only projects)- Hands-on Bluetooth Low Energy experience on mobile: GATT services and characteristics, notifications, connection lifecycle management, and platform-specific permission handling on iOS and Android- Ability to read and write native code (Swift and Kotlin) to maintain and extend native modules- Experience with offline-first mobile architecture and data sync (PowerSync, WatermelonDB, Realm Sync, or similar)- Backend experience with Supabase or comparable Postgres-based platforms, including Row Level Security, auth flows, storage, and schema migrations- Strong automated testing habits with Jest and React Native Testing Library; comfortable maintaining a CI-gated test suite- Experience with Git-based release workflows (feature branches, protected branches, CI/CD with GitHub Actions)Preferred qualifications- Familiarity with Zustand and TanStack Query state management patterns- Embedded systems literacy: comfortable reading firmware protocol specs and debugging against hardware (Nordic nRF52, Zephyr RTOS, MCUboot/DFU a plus)- Experience shipping software in a regulated environment with issue-traceability requirements- Experience with crash reporting and product analytics instrumentation (Sentry, PostHog)- Experience distributing test builds via Firebase App Distribution and TestFlight- Comfortable working with AI-assisted development tools as part of a daily workflow
