Mobile Engineer

Key Responsibilities (both tracks): Extend and optimise Mapbox Navigation SDK, Maps SDK, Directions API, Search / Geocoding, route tiles, custom layers, rerouting, voice guidance, and Mapbox Map Matching.Implement multimodal journey planning features across walking, cycling, bus, metro, driving and hybrid options.Implement Branch.io deep links, deferred deep links, Universal Links, attribution parameters, and app install-to-open routing.Use Bitrise, Bitbucket, SonarQube, Firebase, Jira, Confluence, Figma, and Slack.Profile and optimise React Native performance using Flipper, React DevTools Profiler, Hermes profiling, Firebase Performance Monitoring, Crashlytics, and production telemetry.Platform track — Android (if applying on the Android track): Architect and implement mobile features across Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, React Native, TypeScript, and Native Modules.Implement Android App Links alongside the deep-linking stack above.Use Google Play Console and Google Play Store for release management.Profile and optimise Android performance using Android Studio Profiler, Perfetto/Systrace, and Battery Historian.Platform track — iOS (if applying on the iOS track): Architect and implement mobile features across Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, React Native, TypeScript, and Native Modules.Use TestFlight, App Store Connect, and Apple App Store for release management.Profile and optimise iOS performance using Xcode Instruments and MetricKit.

Requirements

8+ years of mobile engineering experience with 3+ years in senior capacity.Strong Mapbox and OpenStreetMap production experience — mandatory for both platform tracks.Strong architecture and hands-on development skills in either Android (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose) or iOS (Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit), plus React Native.Hands-on experience building production-grade mobile applications on the chosen platform (Android or iOS) and React Native.Experience in mobility solutions including navigation, public transport routing, GIS, backend APIs, CI/CD, testing, app release, security testing, load testing, and performance optimisation.Strong analytical, communication, mentoring, documentation, and cross-functional delivery skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Hands-on experience building production-grade mobile applications with integration to automotive platforms such as Android Auto or Apple CarPlay (whichever matches the candidate's platform track).Support integrations and testing of proprietary SDKs for connected vehicle services (Android Auto / Apple CarPlay).Experience with General Transit Feed Specification-Realtime, Network Timetable Exchange, Service Interface for Real Time Information, Open Source Routing Machine, Valhalla, GraphHopper, H3, S2, Turf.js, indoor positioning, smart city overlays, AI journey assistants, connected vehicles.Integrate GIS capabilities including WGS84, GeoJSON, vector/raster tiles, spatial search, spatial indexing, geofencing, routing, snap-to-road, POI, and route geometry.Integrate GPS/GNSS, Bluetooth Low Energy, activity recognition, sensor fusion, heading, bearing, speed, dead reckoning, and battery-aware tracking.Build provider-agnostic map architecture using Clean Architecture, SOLID, MVVM, Repository Pattern, Dependency Injection, Adapter, Strategy, Factory, Plugin Architecture, and SDK abstraction.Support load and performance testing using Locust, Artillery, Postman/Newman, Firebase Performance Monitoring, Firebase Test Lab, and BrowserStack.Integrate REST, GraphQL, AWS AppSync, WebSocket, MQTT, AWS Amplify, Amazon Cognito, AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, Amazon CloudFront, Firebase, Branch.io, and GCP Console workflows.Security testing - Android: OWASP MASVS/MASTG, MobSF, SonarQube security rules, Snyk, GitLeaks, TruffleHog, Dependabot, npm audit, Gradle dependency checks, Firebase App Check, Play Integrity API, Android lint security checks. iOS: the same OWASP/Snyk/GitLeaks/TruffleHog/Dependabot toolset plus CocoaPods/SPM dependency checks, Apple DeviceCheck/App Attest, and Xcode Static Analyzer.Unit testing - Android: JUnit, Mockito/MockK, Turbine, Robolectric, Kotlin Coroutines Test. iOS: XCTest, Swift Testing, Quick/Nimble. Both: Jest, React Native Testing Library, native module mocks.Debugging - Android: Android Studio Debugger, Logcat, ADB. iOS: Xcode Debugger, LLDB, Instruments, Safari Web Inspector.
