Mobile Engineer

1. Key Responsibilities (iOS OR Android):Implement and maintain features using Mapbox Navigation SDK, Maps SDK, Directions API, Search / Geocoding, route tiles, rerouting, and voice guidance, under guidance from senior engineers for complex customisations.Implement multimodal journey planning features across walking, cycling, bus, metro, driving and hybrid options.Implement Branch.io deep links, deferred deep links, Universal Links, attribution parameters, and app install-to-open routing.Use Bitrise, Bitbucket, SonarQube, Firebase, Jira, Confluence, Figma, and Slack as part of the day-to-day workflow.Support performance profiling of React Native using Flipper, React DevTools Profiler, Firebase Performance Monitoring, and Crashlytics; investigate and fix issues flagged by production telemetry.Participate in code reviews, sprint planning/refinement, and testing cycles.1.1 Platform track - Android:Implement mobile features using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, React Native, TypeScript, and Native Modules.Support Android App Links alongside the deep-linking stack above.Assist with release management via Google Play Console and Google Play Store.Use Android Studio Profiler and Logcat/ADB for debugging and basic performance checks.1.2 Platform track - iOS:Implement mobile features using Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, React Native, TypeScript, and Native Modules.Assist with release management via TestFlight and App Store Connect.Use Xcode Instruments and Xcode Debugger/LLDB for debugging and basic performance checks.2.

Requirements

3–5 years of mobile engineering experience (Android or iOS), including some production release experience.Working experience with Mapbox and/or OpenStreetMap and/or Google Maps SDKs — does not need to be at architecture-owner depth.Solid skills in either Android (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose) or iOS (Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit), plus working knowledge of React Native.Experience shipping features in a production mobile app (Android or iOS) — App Store / Play Store release cycle experience is a plus.Comfortable working with backend APIs, Git-based CI/CD, and standard mobile testing practices.Good communication skills and ability to work within an agile / scrum team, taking direction from senior engineers/tech leads on architecture-level decisions.3.

Preferred Qualifications

Exposure to mobility/navigation apps (route planning, GIS, real-time tracking) is a strong plus.Familiarity with GPS/GNSS, Bluetooth Low Energy, geofencing, or basic sensor-based location tracking.Interest in or exposure to Android Auto or Apple CarPlay integration (whichever matches the candidate's platform track) — not required, but a plus.Familiarity with GIS concepts such as GeoJSON, vector/raster tiles, spatial search, or route geometry.Experience with REST/GraphQL API integration, and cloud services such as Firebase, AWS, or GCP.Basic understanding of mobile security practices (dependency scanning, secure storage) and unit testing frameworks (JUnit/Mockito for Android; XCTest for iOS; Jest for React Native).Familiarity with Clean Architecture/MVVM patterns is a plus, though not required to own architecture decisions independently.4.
